I've been playing my Titleist DTR irons for years now.

My question: should having the ingrained feel for these clubs affect my buying decision brand and model-wise when going club shopping?

In other words, since I've been hitting these for over a decade and am used to them, should I start with AP1's for replacing them, or some other specific brands/models that would reflect a sensible transition with similar look/feel?

Looking for a way to narrow my choice selection when the time comes.

I don't want to come off as a smart ass, but based on your handicap I would certainly try other brands.

Look for the game improvement cavity back type irons. Maybe one of those hybrid mixed sets... Try some of your friends irons out. I'm a huge fan of demoing sticks in real golf situations. Some pro shops at courses have sets specifically for demo purposes. Some driving ranges have clubs you can try. Shop around, get fitted and enjoy!
