I work in northwest Austin and am looking for a good teacher. I've never had a formal lesson, have studied the swing and swing mechanics for a few years, and need another set of eyes I can trust...someone who can learn my swing. If you are a teacher, know a teacher, or are just someone who really understands golf and are willing to give me the time, post a comment.

you are blessed to live/work near one of the best golf stores in the world. The Golfsmith "mother ship". There is a Golftech in there (recommend it for affordability---good place to start learning). They also have a full driving range and practice facility behind the store.

golftech video/computer analyzes your swing. you can then view your swing on a computer at anytime (very helpful). The teachers there at the mother ship should be really good. I played golf 25 years without knowing what I was doing in my swing. What you feel and what you are actually doing can be wildly different. Jim Furyk says the he feels like he is swinging back and through on the same plane. I am just now (after 25 years) learning about my golf swing.

I haven't. Thanks for the tip. I'd really like to find someone I can be friends who can learn my swing and my swing tendencies. That way when things go south I can call him (or her if she's not too cute, since I'm married), and get things back on track.

Bill Moretti and his golf Academy are at Lakeway... All of the Moretti instructors are good, solid teachers in my opinion. I think Moretti is one of maybe 25 guys who has been on the magazines' top teacher lists for two decades or so. Lots of touring pros go to him or members of his group of teachers, plus the site is a really good one for lessons.
