I was thinking of getting either the Momentus or the 'Swing Setter' and was wondering if anyone had impressions on either of them. I read the review on this site, but was wondering (hoping) someone may have both and could compare.

All help appreciated.

We have a regular site, not just a forum, and it includes awesome in-depth reviews of products like the

Swing Setter . That should help you at least a little.

I read the review on the swing setter, it was actually what brought me to the site, I 'googled' it for a review...now I am hooked.

I was actually taking a shot in the dark on the chance someone had both, or more feedback on the momentus.

I've had a Momentus for years--the short one that you can swing indoors (when the wife's not around). I probably don't use it enough but I pick it up every few days and give it a few swings. I like it. I think it made a substantial difference in the beginning, but not as much now. It probably does help keep my swing plane in the ball park though. That said, you can find much more inexpensive weighted clubs that will do the same thing for you (unless you want the new weighted driver that you can hit or one of the other "specialty" Momentus models). I haven't tried the Swing Setter.

The momentus is a great way to get loose, but there hasn't been any change in my game. You'd be better off filling an old club with sand or something of the sort. The best training aid I've ever had is 6 ft. of pvc pipe along with a T-fitting....cut the pipe up into 2ft sections and tada...alignment tool. Best $2.50 I have spent towards improving the golf game so far.

I think 95% of the training aids out their are just gimmicks, the only way you are going to improve in a truly measurable and stable way is to practice. If you aren't making any headway on your own, you can always buy some lessons from your local PGA professional. I am still new to the game of golf, but I have played other sports, and I can say with confidence that cheap toys don't help you.

Follow along my trials and tribulations as a hoser learning the game of golf.

    • Yes it's true in a large sample like a tournament a bunch of 20 handicaps shouldn't get 13 strokes more than you. One of them will have a day and win. But two on one, the 7 handicap is going to cover those 13 strokes the vast majority of the time. 20 handicaps are shit players. With super high variance and a very asymmetrical distribution of scores. Yes they shoot 85 every once in a while. But they shoot 110 way more often. A 7 handicap's equivalent is shooting 74 every once in a while but... 86 way more often?
