A few months ago I decided I wanted to get into golf (I'm so glad I did because I'm completely hooked!!). I bought a cheap beginner's set - RAM G-FORCE. After being out on the course and to the driving range quite a bit, I already decided to upgrade 2 clubs so far. Just looking to see other's opinions on the upgrades. Thanks.

Just bought a Adams Insight BUL #3 Fairway wood and a Mizuno F60 #7.

From reading reviews, the Adams seems like a great club for beginners off the tee. When I use my driver, my drives are beyond horrible and I have absolutely no control.

Good choices in my book. I have the BUL #3 also and use it often.

welcome to the sand trap, and more importantly welcome to golf.

The one tip I can provide is to take a few lessons. Sign up for a group lesson package at your local course or if you can take 1/2 dozen private lessons. If you have decent atheletic ability with a few lessons you will be well on your way to a lifetime of enjoying our wonderful pasttime. Its easier to learn it right the first time then having to unlearn the wrong, and relearn the right later.

In my bag:

some golf clubs

a few golf balls

a bag of tee's some already broken the rest soon to be

a snickers wrapper (if you have seen me play, you would know you are not going anywhere for a while)

and an empty bottle of water

So I was at the driving range today and used my Adams Insight BUL #3 and Mizuno F60 #7 both for the 1st time. Wow! I can't believe how well and consistent I was driving the ball with the Adams - the club just feels perfect. The Mizuno also impressed me so much as I was hitting the ball well with that also.

That Adams club is the best $45 I've spent! Anyone who is thinking of a #3 should go for the Adams.

Congratulations, you already learned one of the most important lessons of golf: simple course management. You hit the club off the tee that is most likely to put you where you want to be, which is not guaranteed to be the driver. And you already aren't complaining that you can't hit driver every non-par-3. So you're going to do well for your experience level. And that's awesome.

I'm glad you found golf and awesome clubs.

One thing you should be aware of, although it's counter-intuitive: a + in front of a handicap indicates better than scratch - estimates of Tiger's handicap are generally in the area of +8 or so. So you probably mean "15" and not "+15" on your handicap.

I bought a set Adams Ovation 3 (4-LW) last summer as my first set of clubs. So far I'm pretty please with them. I'm pretty sure I got them for $199 or so at Dicks. Doesn't look like they sell them anymore; however, you can get a set of Adams Insight XTD Irons for the same price.
