Ok,

I'm looking to buy some new junk, in particular a 3 wood. Minzuno F-60.

I have the choice of Stiff or Reg, I've always hit stiff (mostly because I think it makes my wiener bigger) But I'm really thinking about going back to a regular shaft in my Driver and 3 wood.

3 wood will mostly be hit on fairways, not very many tees.

Soo I am I stupid for hesitating on buy a Regular shaft? or is my manhood getting in the way of a better decision for my game?

If a regular shaft is what you need, then yes, it's not smart to be hitting a stiff. You're only hurting yourself. Just use whatever you need to get the ball in the hole and don't worry what anyone thinks or says.

If it helps, just buy regular shafts and scratch or remove the little "R" on them so you can feel better about no one knowing you're using regular shafts.

Ok,

Let's suppose, for the sake of argument, that you're capable of hitting both stiff and regular. If you aren't capable of both, then the discussion is moot - pick the one you can hit. My (possibly limited) understanding of it is that softer flex yields more distance and firmer flex yields more accuracy, all other things being equal. If I were exactly borderline (instead of this quasi-borderline state I seem to be in), I would put the softer flex (R) in my long clubs - hybrids, woods, and maybe driver, and firmer flex (S) in my shorter clubs (short irons, wedges). Why? Well, if I'm hitting, say, a 9-iron, accuracy is of utmost importance. But if I'm hitting a 3-Wood, I want it to go as far as I can, within a reasonable fluctuation (which is why I have R, and not L, in my woods). You aren't really firing at flags with the 3-Wood, but if it's your second shot on a par-5, the extra yardage may really help you. Now, and this is important, if you can't control the R-flex, it is an issue. Just like I'm pretty sure I wouldn't be able to control a L-flex. But otherwise, I think the softer flex in longer clubs is a great idea.

Would you rather hit the ball better or hit it where you don't want it to go but look "cool" doing it because you've got an "S" on your shaft?

I guess IMO you're going to look alot cooler hitting the ball further and straighter.

Yeah its not so much me looking cool, I mean if some one 30 feet away from me can see that little tiny S on my shaft then they have the most amazing eye sight on earth. :)

I think its more of a mental block that I have.

I guess I'm just going to have to go hit a couple different shafts before i buy this one. I've hit regular flex before, and I couldnt say yay or nay to it.

Just make sure the regular isn't too whippy feeling for you. I have 2 R flex woods. One is almost stiff the other is almost sr.
