... and the most interesting thing to me was the driver pricing. Right now, we're in a $299 for most drivers, $399 for the expensive stuff kinda mode (not counting Taylor Made's TP series).

But five years ago, check these prices:

Callaway ERC II Forged Titanium Driver - $499.99
Callaway Hawk Eye VFT Titanium Driver - $399.99
Callaway Big Bertha Steelhead Plus Driver - $249.99
Taylor Made 320/360 Ti Driver - $399.99
Taylor Made 320/360 Ti Driver (with exotic ProForce or Graffaloy ProLite) - $439.99
Orlimar hipTi Titanium Driver - $399.99

Other drivers (Titleist, Ping, etc) did not list the price, but I imagine they were probably along the $499.99 line.

Now I don't feel so bad dropping $299 for my r7 460

I can't believe the prices for those clubs... it's really weird for me because I started playing golf spring of 2004 (my 1st year of college) and I probably paid less for my current sticks and the quality and technology is obviously much better

Wow, that is crazy. It's good though, but just interesting to see. I'm sure you can pick up any of those drivers now for around $50 somewhere.

I work in the IT field and remember that computers used to be the same way, you had to pay $3k for an old 486 mhz piece of crap with 16mb of RAM. I just got a new Dell for $800 that is light years beyond that!

I didn't start playing till late 2003 and didn't buy any brand new clubs for a while after I started. i have heard story's thought that the Original Big Bertha's we hideously expensive back when they first came out though

Dropping 400 bones for my new HiBore makes me feel a bit better now. Besides in 2001, i was borderline in college, and i do mean borderline and spent to much many on beer, cable tv and pizza

    • Day 5: did a stack session. Did some slow swings between sets, working on hands down.
    • So, I might have to get out of the C-Taper golf shaft. I have an older Mizuno with a KBS Tour shaft in. I was messing around with closing my eyes and feeling where the weight of the club is being felt at. The C-Taper was all in my fingers. I didn't feel much of anything of the club head or shaft of the club. It felt super heavy in my hands. The KBS Tour I could feel a weight further away from my hands, out in space.  The Mizuno weights 2 grams more, but is about 2-3 swing weights lighter than my current irons.  So, yea. I am thinking I might sense the club better with maybe a less stout golf shaft and maybe a lighter swing weight. Probably more to do with the golf shaft. I am thinking the feeling of the weight out in space is more of the shaft loading more easily.
    • Day 25 (2 Apr 26) - Worked on green side chips at the course before helping with the school golf tournament today.  Worked on low flighted spinners to get solid hop and stops.
    • Day 227 4-2 Chest and hip turn with flow drill. Trying to get a rhythm to the hip movement/less segmented feeling.
    • A bit back at it tonight. I just wanted to add in the feel of a softer left arm through out the backswing. This helps me hinge the club. I make sure I am not bending it a ton, but not straightening it. It helps feel like I can keep the club in front of me more and lift the club up sooner.
