The Forgiving & The Forgotten

I noticed today how the sweet spot on my newer clubs (Titleist Z-B) were alot softer & forgiving than my older (Titlesit 990B). Although i had noticed the difference when i first got them, i hadn't hit the different sets at the same time and compared them down the range today.

My Z-B's i hit alot better and i now prefer them, they are alot softer in feel and when you slightly miss-hit them you can barely tell, maybe just a little change in sound.

Then when i decided i'll pull one of my 990B's out of my car (i dont know why they are still in there) and I hit a couple of balls, man the middle on those clubs feels alot more distict and maybe even feels better.

Just putting it out there, do the older clubs have better middles because they have less forgiveness, think about blades have less forgiveness then cavity backs and the middle on the blades is much better than cavity backs.

I hit a similar looking club at the golf store to the 990B called the mp 30s and they felt very solid and then I hit the mp 60 with less mass in the center in the club face it felt hollow with no feedback.

I switch from the mp33, blades to an older set of Comp Ez when my son plays and I feel the difference, so, I know what you mean about the different feeling club based on the design with forgiveness built in, you lose that solid feeling.
