I'm not sure what the next thing I'd pick up would be. I have a driver, a 19* 3 hybrid (taylormade burner rescue), and then my irons range from 3 on...for distance clubs, what would be a good thing to add? another hybrid or perhaps a fairway wood in the range of driver - 5 iron? Any suggestions? I find that at my current home course I find myself using my hybrid quite extensively.

Seems like a 3 wood would be a nice addition to your bag...

I would say try to get a hold of the Ping G10 4 wood cus it give you distance and its easy to get up at 17* but you probably want something more around 15.5*. I would look at the cobra 15.5* woods cus they to are easy to get up IMO. If neither of those appeal to you just go out to your local pro shop or range and try what they have.

I'd go with a 3 Wood, but a 4 Wood wouldn't be a bad idea either.

Two quick questions:

1. My 3 hybrid is a 19* loft but doesn't replace a 3 wood in terms of loft, correct? Does the number of a hybrid correspond to a different fairway wood or iron than is indicated on it's sole? 2. As for fairway woods, are there any brands or models that are particularly great? I just noticed a price reduction on Callaway Hyper X fairway woods and Taylormade Burner fairway woods and I'm not looking to break the bank with a new club addition - do either of these clubs have reputations for being high quality? If you have any other suggestions too I would be more than willing to hear them!

You are correct on the hybrid not replacing a 3 wood, yours replaces between a 5 wood and a 3 iron actually. The callaway woods are not bad but I don't really care for my xhot at all. Im not saying that there is anything bad with Callaway but just that I am not a fan of their fairway woods. The TM burner woods seem to be great and they seem to come from a great line. I would just suggest that you look for something that is easy for you to get up off the ground. That is the one thing I hate about my 3 wood is that it is more of a driver and less of a fairway wood.

Just looked on TGW and found a few woods that are not way expensive:
Wilson FYBrid $80
2007 TM Burner $130
2008 Cobra f-speed $110
Adams Speedline $100
Orlimar X3 $60 ( I had an older Orlimar and loved it )

I just picked up a 17* Ping G10 4 wood and am extremely happy with it. It was a little easier for me to hit off the ground than the 15.5* 3 wood, and fits nicely in the gap between my 10.5* driver and 21* hybrid. It's got a mid-high trajectory with a good deal of roll, unlike the hybrid that has a higher flight and softer landing.

I stopped playing hybrids due to the lack of consistancy I get from them. I hit fairway woods way better. But I dont have much of a gap between my 3I and 3w.

BTW I love my 3 wood, their cheap on ebay and feel so good when you hit them.

I agree with the evil otter, don't get the hybrid bit. I hit my fairway woods pretty straight. And since hybrids are dominating now there is a lot of very high quality woods cheap.

Its all a matter of personal prefrence. I thought about getting a 16* hybrid cus I hit mine so well already, probably the most consistent club in my bad. Some will say they hate hybrids and others will love them and of course there will be those who play both and love both. Both posts above me make do a great point about finding woods cheap due to the hybrid movement.
