It seems to me that the conventional complaint about many makes of hybrids is that they facilitate hooks, but does anyone here besides me have a terrible problem pushing and slicing theirs? With any other club but my 3H, I can tweak my swing if and when my shots start drifting to the right, with more or less immediate results, but not so with this particular club. If I strengthen my grip at all, I tend to end up topping it or pulling it completely to the left, and when i try to focus very hard on making an in-to-out swing, I end up just pushing it diagonally right.

One thing that I've noticed is that for me the clubhead feels very heavy and unwieldy in my hands, more so than any other club. This and the fact that I can't seem to trick myself into thinking that I should it hit it like a mid iron may be contributing to my mental discomfort with the club. It's to a point where I shy away from the club if there's absolutely any trouble to the right side, and it leaves me with a large distance gap, obviously.

I've also owned and tried the Cleveland Hibore (original) and the Mizuno MP Fli-Hi. I didn't quite like the Hibore although it didn't feel as foreign in my hands as my CLK. I actually liked the MP Fli-Hi in that it is very iron-like, but I ditched it because I was looking for something a touch longer than a 3-iron (which is basically what the 21 deg model I had was). Any thoughts would be appreciated -- maybe this type of club just isn't for everyone?

I constantly push-slice my hybrid. That is why I tend to carry my 3-iron instead. I hit my 3 iron much better and almost as long.

    • I have been on a roll in November. Today was a 77 (69.2/115, 6,050 yards) on a wet course with dew covered bumpy greens. Better greens and I might have shaved a few more strokes off the score.
    • So, it appears to me that everyone is bringing out some version of the zero-torque, or square to square, or torque balanced, putter.  What ever name you want to give it seems like everyone has one of these types of things in their line up now.  It reminds me of about 10 years ago, when everyone had to have a counter-balanced putter in their line-up.  Callaway Media | Videos, Podcasts, & Episodes | Golf Content The Official source for Callaway golf clubs, golf balls and gear.
