I read that to lose your belly fat that 80% of it is your diet and 20% is excercise, very interesting.

I also received an e-mail that states eating fruits on an empty stomach is the best way to get all the advantages of fruit.

I went to Disneyland and worked out by walking and running for about 2 hours every morning. I walked and ran the length of Harbour boulevard to downtown Disneyland hotel.

walked 3 times the length
ran 3 times the length
cooled down 2 times the length

took about 2 hours each session

#1 - there is no way to spot-reduce fat. This is a myth that has made a lot of fitness industry scammers rich.

#2 - People who want a six-pack will often go overboard on the crunches and situps. This is just training your abs for endurance, not making them much bigger or burning fat specifically in your mid-section. To have visible abs you either need to have huge ab muscles or very low body fat. Body fat that low is largely a function of diet, so in that respect what you read is true in spirit. #3 - The internet gives voice to a lot of people, including people who have no idea what they're talking about. Be careful what advice you take on the web. That would include advice on a golf message board .

I go to the gym about 4-5 times a week. I do the eliptical fro around 25-30 minutes. Play basketball for about 20 minutes (1 on 1) and then to some weight lifting. On occasion i will also go for a run which will only last about 15 minutes...2 miles at the most.

I am a personal trainer and love lifting - I guess that explains how I go about staying in shape. This isn't always good for my golf game though, as I am almost always sore from the day before whenever I try to go out and play.

You seem to do alot of walking and running and cardio. I'm not sure if you mentioned anything in your thread but you might want to throw in a few lifts during the week or an easy program. Your already doing the warmups to get your muscles and blood ready. Maybe instead of walking a mile and running 2 miles or so, walk one and run one then go lift, or just walk or run a mile.

Thanks for your feedback.

I have been walking and running for about three weeks and during that time I was lifting light weight, dumb bells of 10 and 15 lbs doing various easy set of:

curls
over the head lifts
hands together and lifting from legs to shoulder to over the head
lifting behind my head
side curls
side way motion as in a golf swing

just last week, I injuried my right shoulder and since then stop lifting light weights altogether until my shoulder heals, proably one more week.

do you recommend any other type of lifting with weights when my shoulder gets better?

Thanks in advance for your input. ks8829

Yes I would reccomend lifting again after your shoulder is better but make sure your shoulder is better first.
Also maybe try lifting a little more weight, or doing more reps of the lighter weight will also work.
Good luck with the shoulder.

I haven't been working out for the last couple months for various reasons. I'll be starting back up after the golf season slows down.

I'll out line a typical work out week for me, usually 3-4 days a week.

Monday-
Warm up 10-15min run on treadmill or elliptical (spelling)
Flat bench, 4-5 sets of 8-6-4-8 Going up in weight then back down
Incline bench
Decline bench
Fly's
Dips, skull crushers, close grip presses (basically any tricep movement)
Run 10 mins 5 min cool down walk

Wensday
Deadlifts Light to heavy
Bent over rows
Pull ups
seated rows
Biceps
Shrugs
Run 10 mins

Friday
Run or bike 10mins
Squats
Front squats or lunges
Strait leg deadlifts
Legs curls/extensions

I'll mix shoulders in with Fridays leg routine or do them saturday or sunday

Shoulders:
Some form of cardio for 20-30mins
Seated military press (barbell)
Standing military press (dumb bells)
Side raises, front raises, reverse raises
Smith machine behind head press (seated)
And anything I may have not gotten too, like calves or arms, abs, etc.

That is my typical workout, there are a lot of variations to it but this post would be 2 pages long if I went through it all.
