Well my friend and I were talking about how cool it would be if pros started using wooden drivers/woods or just whatever old club they want and how it could even become a cheaper style instead of getting the newest and best clubs out there.

I went scavaging through my garage and found some of my dads old clubs to try them out. I found a wooden Ping Karsten III driver in good shape, a bristol steelwood driver, and a Sand Iron with these weird dot grooves.

Im trying out the drivers tomorrow, but Im curious... Is the wedge illegal and how well do the dots work compared to regular cut grooves?

"Yep. Inside each and every one of us is one true authentic swing. Somethin' we was born with. Somethin' that's ours and ours alone. Somethin' that can't be taught to ya or learned. Somethin' that got to be remembered."

I don't know if they are legal or not, but I'd assume that grooves work better. Figure the groove is about the same width as the dot, but the length is much greater. (Play conect the dots horizontally with that wedge by making grooves between them.) That's more debris that can be filtered out and thus more face to ball contact resulting in more spin. It's pretty awesome looking though. Are the irons like that too?

In my Ogio Ozone Bag:

I dont think they made irons like that but the only old irons I have in the garage is a set of Jack Nicklaus blade irons. I was chipping in my backyard and it felt amazing. The ball just pounced off the face with good feel and the ball had the best trajectory for a sand wedge. The Ping driver is really light and in decent shape so I can feel some crazy drives coming tomorrow....
