Hi, I'm wondering how much of a difference there are in these two drivers. I guess for comparisons sake, compare with the 905s or 905t to the 983k. Aesthetically they are quite similar, what makes the 905 series superior (technology wise of course) to it's older sibling? Thanks for the input.

technology wise they are pretty similar actually but the 905 has a few different quirks to it... simply put 460CC... more forgiveness, and I personally think the 905R has a hotter face than the 983... personally I feel the 905T is a failed driver, as the price continues to drop... the S is made for a little different player, the R is BIG, which I like... some forgiveness, hot face

Yeah, that's why I wanted to compare only the 905T or S to the 983, as I'm aware of the larger clubhead size of the 905R. I'd love to get a 905S, but I don't really have the swing speed to get the most out of it, and as you've said the 905T doesn't really interest me. We have an R7 Quad @ my store with a Speeder 757 R-Flex and 10.5 club head. I'm really thinking about picking it up, but am a little turned off about spending $400 for it (Speeder shaft really jacks up the price). Thanks for the input, I'll eventually bite the bullet and make a decision.

cmay119, $400 for an old model retail R7 with Speeder 757 is a rip off. You can do much better on ebay. Be very careful considering the R7 quad and 905S. Both are low launch low spin heads, a combo that fits high swing speed / spin players best. Get on a launch monitor with all the driver heads that fit your eye. Find the correct loft to establish launch conditions, and then perfect the launch conditions with the proper shaft. I can't overemphasize the importance of being properly fit for your driver. So many golfers struggle with improper equipment because of either ego or ignorance.

Can't agree more with gascan, I used to play the r7 and the combination of the 400cc and the deep face makes it a very unforgiving club, my driver swingspeed is 110 and I had difficulty...
look into the 905R... give it a try you never know... but definately throw yourself on a launch monitor and see to it

well... I think making the jump to the T couldn't really hurt you, just the bump in size will give you that extra little bit... 250 on sale retail, I've seen under 200 on some wholesale websites

give it a look

I don't know if I would call the T a failed driver. It has more size that the 983 series which is enough to make it better, even if the technology is visually similar. The T has a little more weight set in the back of the head with the weight pads, as well as the weight plug in the middle of the head. It sounds better than the 983, and has a natural draw to it.
The only real reason why some would call it a "failed" driver is because everyone is selling it and few are buying it. But in reality, this is because only a year after its release, Titleist released a replacement club that is bigger and better. If you are smart, you could pick up a T on ebay for about $115. Or you could get a R for $300. Obviously if price isn't an issue, get the R.

Yeah, the T was far from a failure. The R is a bigger T, so that's why it's discounted. The S has no larger version.

A LOT of PGA Tour players used the T, after all, and a lot of golfers. It did well...
