probably anything that will give you a measurement up to about 300 yards will do.

The one I'm looking at is a nikon 550 rifleman I think. It measures out to 550 and has a 6x magnification.

I have a Leupold I bought for deer hunting, get much more use out of it for golf, works great.

My Bushnell was purchased for hunting. The owner uses it during hunting season, I get it in the summer for golf. It works fine. Probably not as easy to get a reading as the golf models, but it just takes hitting the button a couple extra times. It is just as accurate.
