My Walter Hagen 3 Fairway Wood is not even 3 weeks old yet. Hit about 30 balls with it and decided to pull it out again at the range today. First ball I hit, the club breaks off and goes 70 yards out in the green.

I was shocked! Has anyone ever seen this happen before? Unfortunately, I don't have warranty on my clubs so now I have to buy a new club.

What suggestions do you have for a new golfer. I'm looking for something forgiving with a big size sweet spot to cover up my many mistakes.

did you run out and retrieve the club head? did it just slip off the shaft or did the shaft break?

take it back and they may give you a replacement. that happened to me once when i broke a callaway big bertha driver.

When I looked at the shaft, the shaft did not break in half, but the club head did break off the shaft. I could not even run out and get it. It was way out there.

haha i would definitely have run out there regardless of how far it was.. could have been at the back fence. or i would have asked the range man to go get it. i would recommend any Taylormade woods. I would guess Titleist woods would be good but i have no personnel experience with them

Thanks for the advice John. I'm actualy looking at the 2008 Taylormade 3 wood.

I had this happen to a demo club I was given. An odd thing to see the head of a 5i helicoptor out passed the 100m sign. I just informed the range staff and they had it for me to collect the following day.

I have hard good things about the Adam's BUL 3 woods for beginners and they are pretty cheap too I think ~$40 + Shipping from RBG.

that could be what i have. im not 100% sure if mine is a 2007 or a 2008 because i got it awhile after i got my 2007 burner tp. i have the 3 and 5 burner woods and i love them. 3 wood i can hit a mile and i can hit it solid probably 80% of the time and i can work it both ways from a nice draw to a decent fade. the 5 wood i can hit solid about 95% of the time. i love using the 5 wood out of the rough and sometimes in the trees if there isnt anything above me. i can work it more than i can work my 3 wood so i like to get creative with it. all together they are perfect for me and would recommend them to anyone. good luck with your hunt for a new wood :)

I picked up the Taylor Made Burner 3 Wood today. I immediatley took it to the range and worked it out. It took me a little while to get the feel but once I did, I started hitting it well. Its smooth, easy to hit and the launch is incredible. I love it. Thanks for the advice. I'm very happy with the choice. And, it was a 2007 I picked up. Gotta watch that budget.. lol Thanks again man!

anytime and congrats on the club! glad to hear you love it just like me!

I got one of those too this past weekend. I like it so far...I'm making a changeover to stiff shafts from playing regular all my life (after a club fitting). It took a bit to get used to it, but after a while I did really well with it. Just have a driver and a 5W to buy now...and my hybrids (if I'm going to change those to stiff as well...) I'll probably get the 07 TM's again on those too.
