Had a very bad round at the wknd and blamed it all on the soft ground conditions. However after calming down now I realize that not all of my bad shots were due to poor ground conditions and my technique must take some of the blame :( As I usually shoot under 80 I feel my "dry game" is in good order but why then when there is a bit of give under foot how can my game collapse, I was 95 I think. That's almost 1 shot more per hole than normal. The problem isn't rain or wet clubs as I have all the rain gear and find I can play just as well when it's raining as I always keep my clubs dry. But, when the ground is soft, fat shots start to appear among other nasties. Any one got any tips on how to handle these ground conditions?

a lot depends on the sort of bouce u have on your wedges if they have low bounce then the will not be best suited for soft conditions

It was my long/mid irons that I seem to struggle with most, anything that involved more than a 3/4 length swing seemed to result in unpredictable results. Towards end of game I found myself just hitting with half swings on every club just so I would actually hit the damm ball :(

I choke down an inch or so when the ground is soft and has some give under my feet. I FEEL like when I make my downswing and drive my legs through the shot that I actually sink into the ground a little which can cause a fat shot. Gripping down seems to help.
