Not sure why, but when I hit the ball with my driver or irons, it seems to very often go left. I don't mean it hooks/curves left, but it goes in a straight line to the left. If I could only get it to go straight like that in the direction my leading shoulder is facing, I'd be all set. What am I doing wrong?

We have the same problem man! Its an over the top swing probably and your arms are leading everything on the downswing. Do your divots face left?

Im working on it now, check out the thread where I posted my vids, these guys here gave some awesome advice!

I just read your post. Can't see from the video's if the ball is pulling left like mine (I'll assume it is), and I'm not exactly sure what "over the top" swing means. I'll guess it means your hands are to high above your head....maybe they need to be level with the top of our head or even lower? Also, as for not having my hands lead the downswing, how would I remedy that?

Kleraudio, how many yards on average is your drive when you're having a good day? I think I may be in the same mindset as you when it comes to swinging, I focus to much on swing speed and power rather that form and making solid contact. I'm pretty new to this game so a good drive for me is only about 250.

250 is a strong drive man. When I catch them they end up being about 275-280 yards. But I swing really hard, which I think is a big reason for pulling the ball.

What im trying to do is make my plane flatter after the one piece takeaway, and imagine an inside to out swing.... Just do it slow like the other guys have suggested to me...

When I get to the top, its basically all arms and I power through the ball, sending it nice and left....

Oh and bringing your right elbow back to your side on the downswing helped me a lot today too (assuming your right handed)

Just gotta work on it, its all ive been thinking about today

This seemed to help me, show more Knuckles on my top Hand. rotating the hand more to the center of club, plus play the ball futher back in my stance. Plus i was standing to close to the ball, so as to which one helped i cant say as i did all 3 and i was cured, as of now.

Well, I think I found my drive. After reading all the post's, I actually did a google search on the swing plane and got several great hits. I kinda had to put two and two together, but finally figured out how to swing properly and now I'm hitting straight fairly consitently at about 200 - 250, feels great! Hopefully my head doesn't play games on me when I'm ready to tee off and then go back to my old ways.

1) drop your rear shoulder so that it is below your front shoulder
a) this will help you stay behind the ball

2) swing at 70 - 80% until you straighten up your drives
a) this will help you slow down your transition

3) try counting to 3 on your backswing
a) slow down your swing

4) when you get to the top of your backswing try imaging your forward swing is started with your hips and your shoulder and hands will follow

5) try to keep your left arm relatively straight on your back swing
a) this will help shorten your back swing and give you more control and accuracy

6) check the distance of your hands to your body
a) make sure it is not too close and make slight adjustment away from your body ( close will tend to pull left farther the ball will tend to go right)

good luck and have fun
