So I've been playing with Titleist NXT Tour golf balls for as long as I can remember. I just got some new irons (Callaway X-22 Tour) and they are shredding up the balls with each swing. Even after the first hole, the ball is scuffed like no one's business to the point where I have to tear off the parts of the ball where it made contact with my iron.

After 18 holes, the ball is out of commission. With the price of the NXT Tours and how frequently I play is painful. Any suggestions on a good golf ball that isn't hard on the wallet?

Bridgestone E6 / Taylormade Burner they are very durable since I'm so bad and I hit cart paths all the time it barely scuffs them I'd give either of those a shot

Do they have a soft feel like the NXT? I know they're not as soft as a Pro-V1, but they're softer than most I've tried. I'd like a durable ball with soft feel and good distance.

Any more recommendations would be appreciated.

Ya if you're looking for something like that try the Taylormade Burner LDP ball. That what I use and I need a cheap durable ball.

I use the Nike Juice +. They are pretty durable. I am usually hitting them off of trees and rocks, and cart paths. They hold up really well. I know they are not as good as your previous Titleist ball, but just throwing my experience out there.

I used to use Nike Juice balls before I started playing the NXT Tour and you definitely won't get the same control around the greens with the Juices. I find I have the same problem with the NXT Tours, they do wear out pretty quickly. I haven't tried them myself but I've heard good things about the Srixon AD333's.

I can't stress enough how good those balls are for your dollar. They are far, straight, stop on a dime on the greens, soft, durable, and are cheap. I really think you should try the Top Flite Gamer balls, or for extreme distance and feel, Top Flite Freak. For low prices, and great service, try lostgolfballs.com

Have fun!

A guy I play with uses those and he raves about them. I may give a sleeve a try and see how they are.

How are the Freaks in terms of feel? I can't stand a ball that feels like a rock when hit.

I've never used a Srixon ball, but have good things myself as well. Specs on the ball shows higher spin, but says nothing about durability.

The X-22 Tours are rough on the balls, so that's a big thing for me.

New clubs have sharper edges on the grooves. It will take a little time to break them in. Try one of the more durable balls for a while then go back to your tours. Shouldn't be as bad by then. Just started using e7's. Durable with good feel.

I love the e7+s I'm playing right now. They're not cheap though. Compared to pro v1s yeah, but generally no, since you can get 3 times as many of some other brands for less than the price of 1 dozen b stones. But, I love em and hope to buy a bunch more after my birthday. They're pretty durable, only scuffed one I've gotten hit at least 3 cart paths, and was still fairly playable. I always use cheaper balls like slazengers for holes where water is in play left or right. If the water is right in front of the tee box, then I use good balls, cuz if I'm playing that bad I should just go home lol.

Surprisingly soft for a long ball. Another durable ball like the gamer. It rolls like those rock balls, but feels like an NXT. Another ball that is very very soft, and long, is the Pinnacle Gold Fx Long. That's another ball to try. Very long off the tee, very soft on every club, but it doesn't have a lot of spin around the greens. That's it's only downfall.

If that's the case, I'd rather just try the Gamer or Freak. Distance isn't the main concern of mine more than the durability and feel. When I finish a round with the NXT, it seems like I've been ramming it at trees.

Ha I know what you mean sometimes.

Well since you really need straight ball flight and good feel, with low cost and durable cover, it has to be either the gamer, or the Top Flite D2 Straight. Both are extremely cheap at lostgolfballs.com

My friend has both of those, so I think I'll steal a sleeve of each from him and see how they work. : )

Any more recommendations?

Hmm not really. Top Flite's dimple-in-dimple balls (D2 distance, D2 straight, freak, gamer etc...) have the best bang for your buck right now. If any of those don't suit you, then try some TaylorMade balls. Great balls, and you can find some cheap prices out there. Have fun man.

I like the Srixon Soft Feel. Haven't played with them enough yet to determine whether they are more durable than others, but they seem pretty decent durability-wise so far.

But, I've also tried the Gamers and like them a lot too.
