Beginner from Norwalk, CT...21 yrs old

So I have played a variety of sports all of my life, have been playing tennis the last 2 years and love it, but its a two man sport and a lot of the times I have spare time so I decided to take up golf.

I work at Sports Authority and got a discount on a set of Ram Memorial clubs. I read reviews and I know they are pretty poor in the quality department...my dad broke his iron wood today and I broke the one in the store lol.

Luckily no breaks for me today, I had a lot of fun at the driving range....first time. Alot of the shots hooked right, but I did hit about 7 or 8 with the driver 200-250 yards...not bad for a beginner whos never played right???

Okay now some questions....

Why do some of the shots hook right?
What is the iron wood used for?
What is the hybrid used for?
