One thought that I had was to make changes to the course for each round. Most of the courses have 4 or 5 tee boxes that they could use. Maybe one day you have a par 3 that plays 220 and the next day it gets moved to 175. Or a par 4 is 490 on day one, but day two it is 405, then day three it is 440, then day four it is 475. A par 5 might be 600 yards and hard to reach in two, but one day it gets shortend so they can reach in two, but it brings more hazards into play off the tee.

This is a good idea, too. Kind of line a off-speed pitch in baseball.

Yeah I think its plenty hard enough, I mean when is it going to stop? 8,000, 9,000, 10000 yard courses? Tighten up the greens, if I played at courses with greens as big as most of the PGA courses my GIR would be way better, most of the greens i play on I can spit across.

If they want to challenge the best in the world do it by skill not yardage... Make the players work the ball a lot more off the tee, tighten up the greens, etc. Make the course harder not longer.

make them use distance balls :) just kidding but that would be fun to watch.

They did this in the U.S. Open I think. They moved the tees a bunch so guys had to react instead of just using yesterday's experience from the same exact location. I'd like to see them do more of this though.

I'm definately in favor of a time limit on shots. I'm not sure what it should be, but they're ridiculous now. Two somes shouldn't take four to five hours to play 18 holes. It probably would cause some rushing and therefore some more mistakes.

Wait, why are we trying to make the courses harder? Is there some problem with them now? We've had 4 different, new Major winners this year. It looks to me everything is fine.

Well some people want major winners to be around par, and think that -4 like Lucas Glover's win and his 64 are a little too much, and that the courses need to be tightened more.

How bout we just accept that if these guys played the courses we played everyday in the conditions we played they would shot in the low 60's or 50's. Why we continue to chain our gods in this Masochistic sport and not allow them to shine Is baffling. Crazy setup courses like the ones we saw this year at the majors just pick the lucky bugger that hit one foot the left from 180 yards and kicked to 3 feet from the hole instead of one foot right and slid down to a short sided collection area 45' from the hole. 4 guys outside the top 25 won this year ending in the biggest fluke since Hamilton YE Yang.

    • You're right. I haven't really had an issue with this before, but it's definitely worth closing the legs a bit to see what happens. I've had 2 of these and never had this problem before. About 5 years of use between the 2. It's really odd. Yeah, I've always had a bit of inconsistency and misreads, but this is a new level. I did a baseline session last night, and all my of stack speeds had decreased by roughly 5-10 mph (with me throwing out the obvious garbage readings). Weirdly, the driver speed actually seemed to be right where I expected it. I guess maybe it's having trouble with the smaller head of the stack vs. a driver? Whatever it is, I think it's time for me to go with the stack radar.
    • @DeadManI used to use the Swing Speed radar and, in hindsight, it seems very unreliable.  As @iacassaid, it's prone to misplacement, and I'd sometimes get wildly different speeds from swing-to-swing: like a 103mph, followed by 118mph, then a 102mph, then a 114mph.  I didn't know any better at the time and thought that was normal.  I've since upgraded radars and the new speeds seem much more accurate/consistent. Also, Mike Carroll (FFG) used to have the SSR and he now calls it a 'random number generator'.
    • I have it. Works good. As all things electronics, there are analog elements that can 'weaken' like the microwave signal emitting/receiving or the contact between it and conversion module, etc. Might be time for a new one.     P.S. I've had it for a few years. Other than replacing the battery haven't had any periods of wild reads.
