When I first got my X Prototypes, they came with Golf Pride Tour Velvets. They play nicely, but I decided to try out some cord grips and put Lambkin cords on my 7-PW just to see how they played. Bottom line is I don't like them that much and would like to give another grip a shot. How does everyone feel about the Golf Pride Multi-Compounds? I've held some and taken a few swings with a friends clubs that have them and they feel pretty nice. How do they wear? Pros/cons vs the Tour Velvets? Thanks.

If you didn't like the Lamkin cords then you may not really like the New Decade Multi-Compound grips (thats a mouthful) as they are mostly corded, too.

For the record, I really like both of these grips. I'm playing Tour Velvets on 4 of my sticks now and can't wait to switch 'em to midsize Lamkin cords.

I know the MC grips are mostly corded. I should've been more specific as to why I didn't like the full cord Lamkins. The grip on them is great. No slip at all. They're just a bit rough on my hands. I like the soft feel of the Tour Velvets, but my hands tend to slip on hard swings during very hot/humid rounds. I see the MC grips as a compromise between soft feel and traction.

A lot of my friends think the MC grips are to rough and don't like them, personally, they are my grip of choice. Golf Pride has a new cord the BCT, that is available in the Tour Velvet, it is suppose to be a tighter weave cotton fiber so it is softer cord, you might give those grips some consideration.

I think I'll be giving the BCT's a shot. I've heard through another forum that the MC becomes a bit slick when wet. Truth to this??

Give the Tour Velvet Cords a try then. They are not quite a "grippy" as the Lamkin cords and they're nearly as soft as the standard Tour Velvet. Might be just what you're looking for...

I have never noticed this to be the case, but I do clean mine pretty regularly also, they really hold up to being cleaned. I can make them last a pretty long time with regular cleaning.

    • Day 446 - 2025-12-20 Woke up early and got some swings in before teaching putting all day. Looking forward to doing the same tomorrow.
    • It's miles better, though.
    • Went up to Erie for a lesson. I still need to work on how I shift my weight into my right leg and turn into the right leg. I extend it too much and externally rotate it too much. That all causes me to over rotate the hips and cause weight shift issues in the downswing. I need to feel like my right leg gains flex (it doesn’t), and my knee cap faces forward. The right hip sinks back and right. I need a need a ton more internal rotation. I still have some right elbow issues in the backswing. The path is better, but too much right elbow bend. I need to maintain width in the right elbow and let my right shoulder retract more, let’s say at A3, which helps keep that right arm extended.
    • Day 130 12-20 Today was just swinging what i had and go from there. Did focus on getting to lead side. Recorded swings for lesson  and hit real balls.
