I was wondering if someone could tell me when the winner of the 2009 Money list is determined? I ask because I am in a poll with some friends at a club I belong to and I have Tiger who is currently in lead. Im not sure if the money list winner is determined at the end of the regular season which is this weekend if Im not mistaken or at the end of the playoffs. It would be nice to know if I have a little bit of extra money coming my way for some new gear.

Thanks,

Thanks.

It is decided officially after the last official tournament of the season, which includes the Fall finish. Q-School winnings don't count towards it, but that wouldn't matter anyway: the first-place award can't go to anyone ranked higher than 126 on this year's list, and that wouldn't push him up near #1.

However, the top will rarely change after the FedEx Cup is awarded, since the players near the top rarely play more than one or two end events. Tiger has almost a $3.5M lead over Stricker at the moment on the money list, and he's probably good to make another $2M (vs Stricker, who probably won't exceed $1.3M) during the playoffs. Short of Stricker deciding to play the entire Fall series, and winning just about everything there, it's probably effectively over after the TOUR Championship. But don't be like Paddy Power and pay out on Tiger right away. Some famous bookie paid out any tickets for Tiger winning PGA on Friday night, and...

Awards, Achievements, and Accolades

Thanks for the info guys. With the regular season ending shortly I wasnt sure if the winner of the money list was determined then or not. Thanks for clearing it up for me. I just started follwing the PGA tour this year so Im not sure how everything works. I got lucky with the Tiger pick because what we did was everyone picked a card to determine who picked first thru last and I pulled the ace giving me first pick. I guess Ill have to wait till november to see if Tiger holds on. Hopefully he does because Im looking to buy a new set of irons in the offseason and this would help out nicely. Again thanks for the info everyone.

    • I assume you are posting 15 or 16 holes and letting the USGA algorithm insert projected scores for the missing holes. How is that going? Are the projected scores reasonable? I have yet to do this.
    • You're right. I haven't really had an issue with this before, but it's definitely worth closing the legs a bit to see what happens. I've had 2 of these and never had this problem before. About 5 years of use between the 2. It's really odd. Yeah, I've always had a bit of inconsistency and misreads, but this is a new level. I did a baseline session last night, and all my of stack speeds had decreased by roughly 5-10 mph (with me throwing out the obvious garbage readings). Weirdly, the driver speed actually seemed to be right where I expected it. I guess maybe it's having trouble with the smaller head of the stack vs. a driver? Whatever it is, I think it's time for me to go with the stack radar.
    • @DeadManI used to use the Swing Speed radar and, in hindsight, it seems very unreliable.  As @iacassaid, it's prone to misplacement, and I'd sometimes get wildly different speeds from swing-to-swing: like a 103mph, followed by 118mph, then a 102mph, then a 114mph.  I didn't know any better at the time and thought that was normal.  I've since upgraded radars and the new speeds seem much more accurate/consistent. Also, Mike Carroll (FFG) used to have the SSR and he now calls it a 'random number generator'.
    • I have it. Works good. As all things electronics, there are analog elements that can 'weaken' like the microwave signal emitting/receiving or the contact between it and conversion module, etc. Might be time for a new one.     P.S. I've had it for a few years. Other than replacing the battery haven't had any periods of wild reads.
