I have rheumatoid arthritis which has made my hands an wrists weaker than they used to be. I can still play but seem to lose control of the club at the top with standard grips. My Mizuno MP-57 irons seem to have even smaller than normal grips and seem to really move around while I swing. I have played for 45 years. I have installed grips on two irons to see if I liked the feel. One was the Lamkin Crossline midsize that felt hard and slippery (or too big?) the other was a midsize Winn Excel Master Wrap that was tacky but too soft. I am hoping that a midsize grip will help but I am not really certain. I think a slightly softer midsize might work but I hate to keep buying new grips to test without some direction. Can anyone suggest something. I have researched all the grip companies and searched this site but I would like some first hand info. Thanks in advance.

Black Magna makes grips that are designed for people with arthritis, some players at the club I used to work at used them and said they helped a little maybe its worth a try.

I also have arthritis (osteo in my case) and it is in my hands. I cannot make a fully closed fist for example. To deal with this I had my clubs regripped this year with oversized grips: Winn Master Wrap (Winn Excel RF Oversize +1/8” Weather Black). With the larger grips my hands are nowhere near as sore as when I had mid-sized grips because I do not have to grip as tightly. I had worried that the grips might be 'too big', but once I practiced with them and got used to the larger size, it really feels good in my hands.

I also wear a glove on both hands and have graphite shafts to lessen the shock to my hands. It has made a big difference.
