Hey everyone, I have a old set of Titelist DCI 990's. They just sit in my closet taking up space and dust. My girlfriend is trying to start playing golf, but she doesn't have any clubs. We have talked about cutting these down to fit her, but I was wondering if it is a good idea. All it is going to do is make the shafts stiffer and harder for her to hit.

What do you guys recommend to do? Should I cut them down, just re-shaft them, or try to trade or something on a newer set of Womens clubs. I also have Nike Sumo Driver I am going to cut down for her. I want to make sure the clubs she plays with are decent and easy for her to hit so she sticks with the game and has fun.

Thanks

I would buy her women's clubs. You can buy inexpensive 'starter sets' that don't have 14 clubs, but enough necessary for a beginner (driver, fw wood, a couple of hybrids and short irons and a putter). You may not want to buy new, but I think selection of used women's clubs probably isn't great.

Buy her her own.

You can get a nice set for pretty close to what you'd pay to reshaft your 990's and they'll be much more appropriate to her.

Plus, they'll be hers , not your hand-me-downs. That's big, trust me.

Whatever you do though, DO NOT simply cut down your old shafts.
