Did he have a single element of the game that was holding him back, namely driver? I've seen guys really drop their scores when they figured out how to straighten out their driver, because they immediately weren't taking 4-5 penalty strokes and punching out on several other holes. As expected, these were high handicappers, but if a guy really had trouble with the driver it would be possible even as a mid capper.

I don't know that I'd call BS on the guy, but I'd sure put a little money on the game to see how his new game held up under a little "heat".

      I love Rancho Park too!  I don't get out there much due to the 405 issues (Im in Santa Clarita) but I do try and get out there every now and then...last time out was in January where I eagled 17 (left green) with a holed 145 yard third shot ! Rancho is a great course! And at 24 bucks weekday with the city card, an absolute steal!

      I have played PGA West, at least one or two courses in there, but I am not sure if I've played any of the courses used to host the Hope. I played a course that I think both isn't PGA West and is host to the Hope a few years ago, possibly at a TST outing, but I'm not sure if I'm thinking of the right one. I have played Rancho Park plenty of times (exactly half of my sub-80 rounds were there!) and Wilson/Harding.  Rancho Park might be my favorite golf course among those I've played more than a half dozen times.   Hopefully I'll get a chance to play TPC Scottsdale, maybe this August or September, and at some point I think there was a PGA Tour event in Las Vegas, I should get up there and play those course(s).
