Oldest Course in the World

Guinness World records have officially recognised Musselbrugh Old Course as the Worlds oldest surviving golf course.The oldest record of golf being played was 2nd March 1672 when Sir John Foulis recorded in his accounts book "Played golfe at Musselbrugh,lost £3,5s 0d"


The Musselbrugh Old Course Golf Club was formed by a group of local men in 1982 who were determined "the cradle of golf" would take its place correctly in the history books.

Overseas (associate) membership is a brilliant way to be associated with this unique golf club.As a member myself I played this wonderfull course a few weeks ago along with Muirfield (no 3 year waiting list for Musselbrugh members)

thats awesome. I would love to play on that course. I took a trip out to ireland/scotland and played some very old courses. there is nothing else like it. very cool.

Awesome is right,While I was there a fellow golfer (Bill from las Vagas) pitched up on a Golf vacation,he was touring around playing as many courses as he could.He was dumbstruck with the History that oozed from the Old course and mentioned to the Secretary that he had been trying to get on Muirfield for some time,3 hours later(a Musselbrugh member and proud as punch) he was standing on the first tee !
