My name is Stacy and I am new to the forum.
I am a relative beginner in the sport, but enjoy it as much as anyone who has been playing golf their entire life.

I love to watch the PGA Tour, try new golf clubs at the range (even though demo days don't offer a large selection of clubs for lefties) and play as much as humanly possible...weather permitting!

This is officially my 4th year playing golf on a golf course.
Before this, I spent my first year at the driving range, taking lessons
and perfecting my swing. As of last season, I stepped back to the
white tees, but the ladies' publinks play from the reds, so I believe I'll be playing from both sets of tees during the season.

My best score to date is an 84 at Dunwoodie, and I always play the ball
as it lies as per USGA rules.

More to come,
Best wishes,
Stacy@golf-for-beginners.com

Sincerely,
Stacy Solomon

Welcome. Out of curiosity, since you came to the game later than most: what made you hit left-handed?

Welcome. Out of curiosity, since you came to the game later than most: what made you hit left-handed?

I am a lefty since birth. My sister was changed over to a rightie in first grade and now she's ambidexterous (which isn't bad either!). By the time I went to school, teachers allowed the students to "be who they are" and left me alone!

I usually practice with my husband's right handed pitching wedge at the range, just so that I can get out of trouble if need be. My golf ball recently got caught up near a rock and I had to turn my golf club over and hit a beautiful shot 4 feet from the pin...and sunk the shot for PAR!

Sincerely,
Stacy Solomon

Hey Master, I think she's showing you off, you're in big trouble now !

I don't usually show off - it happens all on its own

Sorry abt the misspelled word - it happens when my typing gets ahead of my mind! Abt the Masters, I only like the Masters when Phil is in the TOP 3... Actually the Masters are probably the most enjoyable of the Tour events.

Sincerely,
Stacy Solomon

Although I was fortunate to have played Wykagyl CC, I regularly play Saxon Woods, Maple Moor, Pelham and Split Rock in the Bronx. I'm not a fan of Sprain Lake, although I have golfed there a few times. If you are a regular to Saxon or Maple Moor, we may have played a round of golf together!

    • TPC Sawgrass and WHOF courses first week of Feb and then back to Pinehurst in April.    Nice set! Grand Cypress is a favorite in the area.  +10...!
    • Thank you for the replies.  On reflection, I need to go away and work on proprioception. For example, I have never had any idea where the club head is. I go for a lesson, the pro identifies a fault and we fix it. Because I do not feel  the difference between the fixed swing and the old swing, I write down what we worked on. However, without any feel or muscle memory of what constitutes a good swing, it is a lottery whether my next round will be good or bad. I contrast myself with my brother in law; who’s swing is truly ugly. He was a cricketer and has great  proprioception, so he is consistent and straight. I just found Andrew Emery video on golf proprioception. Any views on his teaching? Regards

    • I'm interested. I always enjoy playing in these events, sometimes I've even played well. ... sometimes not so much.  I do have an event I've been playing for more than a decade and a half that happens the first weekend in May in Las Vegas.  BTW - if any of you are interested in joining me in that event let me know, and I'll get you details.  Here's the thread for that event.
