Anybody know anything about Pine Meadow Golf?

Hi,

I was originally looking at the Cleveland Launcher irons, but I'm not sure if I want to spend $500 (this will be my first real iron set, I played with a beginner's set before). There is this website called PineMeadowGolf which sells the generic/knockoffs of the high end irons. I doubt they will play as well as the branded irons, and the lie can't be customized to my fitting, but since this is my first set of real irons does all that matter? Basically I'm asking what the quality of these clubs are, because I can get the irons/woods/and hybrids for around the same price as the Launchers...thanks in advance for your advice...

My friend just ordered a set of irons from Pinemeadow and he likes them alot. Ive hit them and they are good for him. Hes been playing about a year and he got the knock-offs to the Big Bertha 05 irons. Make sure you dont choose the stock grip that they give you cause they are garbage, spend a few more dollars and get the grip of your choice or re-grip them yourself. Fast shipping I remember as well.

I just bought a set of Acer XP high trajectory irons (clones of big berthas) from Gigagolf.com. When I was doing my research, pine meadow and gigagolf seemed to be the two most reputable online stores for clones/knockoffs.

I chose gigagolf because they do adjust both length and lie of the clubs and I also found the prices to be better if you compare with the same shafts and grips.

I really like my new clubs and the purchase was really easy with free shipping.

.... Pinemeadow is similiar to Thomas Golf .. and from the reviews, they're making some darn good stuff and have a really good rep .. I've met alot of folks that really like them (including some club pro's) some of my friends have them and they've had a wonderful experience ..

The days of the backroom "nod nod, wink wink" clubmakers are pretty much over .. companies like Giga golf, Diamond Tour and others are not only making clubs "as good" as the big boys, but in most cases, even better ... Pinemeadow is cheap? not really... (OK, they sell a complete set of knock off for $400) they are about the same price to Tour Edge clubs. I pick the later one...

I recommend Tour Edge Bazooka Jmax... they are about $300 for the iron set.

Although I have not visited, I do know Pine Meadows has a fairly large facility in Portland, Oregon. They are a legitimate company, not a 'garage' clubmaker.
I would rather shop your local Pro Shop for clubs and grips you like, and hit well.
Then see what deal they will offer... often they have 'buybacks' from golfers who have moved up to better equipment. If you can't get a deal then move on to EBAY. There are some EXCELLENT golf shops selling equipment on EBAY. I've bought a number of used clubs at great prices. One of the bonuses I find is they often re-grip with better than OEM grips when they sell the used clubs. Example: I always end up re-gripping Tmade clubs... the OEM grips are slick!!

I too have had good luck buying on eBay. I used to get a lot of stuff off Golf Club Exchange.com, but they are not really peer to peer anymore. It is big business for the pro shops now as an outlet for their overstock/obsolete inventory. I really liked them at first. As someone who has dealt with imports in the industrial field, I feel that you CAN get the same quality from a knock-off, but you can also get much lesser quality. It is all in the luck of the draw.
