hmm. My personal favorite has always been TPC Sawgrass, I really want to play there someday. The layout and use of hazards is brilliant.

Looking for a new bag..

The best course is Pacific Dunes (Bandon, Oregon), and Bandon Dunes facility is the best overall destination for golf in the US. It includes Bandon Dunes, Pacific Dunes and Bandon Trails. Absolutely spectacular golf courses and a great overall experience.

It's really tough to narrow down to one when I've only seen most of them on TV but I would love to play Pebble Beach, Chambers Bay, Bayhill, or Augusta. Had the chance to walk Torrey Pines during a practice round for the US Open and it looked like it would be a blast to play.

However, if I HAD to choose one it would be Augusta.

question is impossible to answer... but to those who try...
would you want to be a member at course X and would course X get boring in time, would it loose some of its luster?
I think the best course would be fun to play daily and would be a stern, but fair test... requiring a multitude of shots into greens, around greens, and off the tee.
My Clubs: Callaway FT-i Tour LCG 9.5° w/ Matrix Ozik Xcon 6 stiff; Sonartec GS Tour 14° w/ Graphite Design Red Ice 70 stiff; Adams Idea Pro 2h(18°) & 3h(20°) w/ Aldila VS Proto 80 stiff; Adams Idea Pro Forged 4-PW w/ TT Black Gold stiff; Cleveland CG12 DSG RTG 52°-10° & 58°-10°; Odyssey...

i would think that firestone would be one of the best because it has a monster par five 600 some yrds maybe more but the best upkeep would be agusta, pebble beach or maybe even torrey pines good morning torrey pines dawn patrol they wak up at 4:30 in the morning just to play the course

I would think you'd have to play the courses to make that determination on best and worst.

Absolutely correct. Kind of silly to proclaim a course you have never played to be the best course.

my vote for best in Merion... watch the walker cup just to see.. proof that a course doesn't need to be 7500 yards long to be challenging.

    • I'm confused - the team of two is playing a scramble but the single player is playing best of two balls or is he playing a one man scramble with two shots? If the single is best of two balls, then I'd bet on the pair playing a scramble everytime. If it's a two man scramble versus a single person scramble, I'd take the single, at least until fatigue was a factor. Give a regular play two shots and I think he is going to play better than the other two guys. That said, probably works better for the solo for 9 holes than 18. If the solo was smart and self aware of his game, and many of us are not as aware as we should be, he would conserve his energy and not play a second swing after a good shot.
