Yeah, I was thinking of going for one of a loft between or around the 3i-4i range, and possibly one of a lower loft as well, to kinda bridge the gap, so to speak.

There's an American Golf. They don't have a huge collection of hybrids and stuff but a fairly decent collection of the main irons, drivers and putters.

The local driving range has a pro shop, so there's a good chance they'd let you try some stuff out and see how you go. It's operated by Snainton Golf - http://www.snaintongolf.co.uk/ You could also try out Ingleby Barwick Golf Academy. Fantastic driving range and a great little shop. http://www.inglebybarwickgolfacademy.co.uk/

Nice, I'll definately check those out. American Golf is where I've been going in York, so I guess I'll have a change of scenery and go to the AG in Middlesbrough and check out the pro shops you mentioned. I'm already going into York tomorrow to meet someone, so I'll stop by AG and have a quick test of some of the hybrids mentioned earlier in the thread.

I'm definately an impulse buyer though so something may get bought in the heat of the moment tomorrow We'll see~

Also, not gonna lie, for £15 that course at Ingleby Barwick looks like a lot of fun to play. I'd much rather play those nine holes twice than pay the same to play at my local muni, heh. Thanks for the tip-off =)

Welp, drove through to American Golf and as soon as I mentioned the word "hybrid" I was thrust at stuff I couldn't afford. I stumbled across their secondhand club display (which I didn't even realise they had) and ended up buying a used Cobra Baffler 4H which looked like it had been used once, the person got disgusted that their new club was slightly scuffed and sold it.

£50. Bargain. Thanks for the help guys, I'll see you next time I need some advice

IB is quality, I'm joining it next January. £400 for a year. Absolute bargain.

Good purchase-that's a 23* hybrid, right? I think that's perfect for replacing your 3 iron and even your 4 iron until you feel more comfortable hitting it.

Nice, it really does look to be a decent course. Probably head up there in the near future!

Exactly right, 23*. The feel I got from contact in the shop was great, but the true test will be the range tomorrow, and 18 on saturday. The Di-7's I got recently were 4-SW so if this goes well, I'll probably look into a lower * loft hybrid to bridge the gap between the woods. We'll see!

Which AG did you get it from? Never seen second hand gear in the Boro one.

York, in Monks Cross shopping centre. I've been a couple times and didn't actually realise they sold secondhand clubs until this most recent visit. It was tucked away in a shithole corner of the shop, but there was some nice stuff there. Couple drivers, couple sets of irons etc. Have another look in the Boro shop, it might just be tucked away like this one

    • Thanks but honestly… I don't know any other way. I don't mind being wrong so long as I know where to go from there. I don't like being wrong — I'd love to get things right (which is different than "being right"). I recommend grabbing a furniture slider or a paper plate or something, and doing something like this: First, make a swing where you let your trail foot swing out as you turn, then twist that foot back in. From DL and FO, it'll look like this: Then, during a regular backswing, try to twist your foot in slightly (demonstrated in the left image): You'll notice a crease along the trail side of your hip, your pelvis will "fold" into that thigh (internal rotation of the hip joint), and your "bits" will be squished a little between your pelvis and your thigh. Ben Hogan said once: "At the top of the back swing the groin muscle on the inside of your rt [sic] leg near your right nut will tighten," Hogan wrote. "This subtle feeling of tightness there tells you that you have made the correct move back from the ball." I don't know about that, but you will probably feel something down around that area.
    • Yep. I think it will start to feel even more athletic when we start on the downswing stuff later.  I know, it's just I want to be younger so I have more time to enjoy the changes. 🙂
    • I need to drop a couple of stone. 🙂 😛    Yep. Yeah, but in the end, it feels more athletic, like you're actually using your legs, yeah? As you know… we use the best available info we have. Like others, I was fooled a little by 2D images for awhile (moving or still). Unlike others, I've learned and grown and moved on since then, while they're still looking at their images (often from lousy camera angles).
