For the Dallas folks out here, I just wanted to see if you guys have had any exp with courses out there that were at least decent to play after a weekends worth of rain, such as we've had recently.

I remember when I used to live in Houston, you could get out to some courses reliably after a mighty rain...but it would also be 102 degrees with no cloud cover and humid like a sauna...but at least the ground was okay to play from since it'd be baking. Houston, rainy and 60 degrees one day, 102 and sunny the next. How I miss it. lol.

Anyhow, thanks in advance, as I have been suffering withdrawal symptoms from not playing all weekend and part of last week due to the lousy weather. I just want to get out there and play as soon as possible!

Hard to say with this constant rain for 3 days. Your best bet is to call a course and they will tell you when it will be fit to play.

Give Firewheel a call--they have good drainage.

Stay away from Castle Hills and Coyote Ridge--stay soaked for a while.

Thanks for the replys ya'll...a lot of times when you call they are like 'oh yeah sure its dry enough, come over and give us your money' LOL, just kidding, but I can imagine the slight chance that might be an issue. Once again, thanks folks. Tomorrow AM I'll give Firewheel a call.

Another way to figure this out---take a look at rainfall amounts across the metroplex over the past two weeks. We've gotten a ton up north (Plano, Allen, McKinney)and in the south west (Mansfield). I have the feeling that the south eastern part of the metroplex hasn't had as much rain.

Those courses would include the following:

Countryview (Lancaster) http://www.countryviewgolfcourse.com/

Creekview golf course (Crandall) http://www.creekviewgolf.com/

The Old Brickyard in Ennis is down there also. Questionable drainage at that course.

Thanks much UTTX! On a diff subject (not too diff bc its about weather) can you believe I am looking fwd to winter golf in a few months? I like playing in the cold...and I don't mind walking it either.

It's a little drive for you, but Squaw Valley here in Glen Rose has very good drainage. They have a links and a lakes course.

I have a tee time at Indian Creek tomorrow at 2:30. With another day of rain apparently coming tomorrow (70% chance), would anyone be able to take a guess at how playable it will be assuming it does not rain tomorrow?

    • Day 314 - Putting some things together. Better grip/setup, fuller backswing, better finishing position. Filmed some swings, happy with the progress.
    • Day 130: did a stack session.
    • Day 206 (24 Nov 24)  - An easy session with the 54deg wedge and hard foam balls / one simple goal - distance control thru backswing length while not decelerating.  Had a playing partner comment they noticed me decelerating on a couple short wedge shots in last round.  Hit from distances from close to 40yds down to 20.
    • Musgrove Mill hole #15 was converted to a par 3 after Hurricane Helene. Today, I had 145 from the tee which is a perfect 9-iron for me. I aimed just right of the hole and pulled it a few feet. Clanked off the stick down into the hole and ricocheted out of the hole 13’ away. Drained the putt for a birdie after repairing the hole which was damaged . Not sure if it would have counted as a HIO, but I was pretty excited!
    • Day 55 - 2024-11-24 Did five levels of Operation 36 on GSPro (different courses). 🙂 Was -4 from 200 yards (32) intentionally laying up on each hole (i.e. not hitting a 5I or something). Shot… 22, 24, 26 from 25, 50, and 100 yards. I forget my 150-yard score, but obviously it was < 36. Putting was odd… (and I did it with the wedge or a 7I or whatever was in my hand).
