I would get a mustang with the V6, or a honda accord or civic. If you're getting new clubs, I highly recommend Mizuno. You might could possibly talk to Callaway and get a sponsorship from them. Never hurts asking.

I don't know if you were joking abut putting your clubs in the front seat with you but I think that would be dangerous. If you have a accident while driving those clubs could cause some serious injuries. I would let them ride in the trunk or in the back if you buy a SUV.

I was kidding. Just a little humor to show my fanatasicm about golf.

I've got a contact at TaylorMade, so I think I'll start there. Just trying to figure out how I'm going to pitch it to them. Any ideas?

Tell them what you told us. You're going on an exclusive golf trip, and you need all the help you can get. Tell them how you can promote them on this trip. Might maybe consider getting a wrap on the vehicle if they will pay for it, tell them it's free advertisement to the weekend golfer.

Thanks for the advice. I'll definately use it.

Just trying to help a fellow golfer out. Thats the way I had to go about for fishing sponsors.

Isn't that what seat belts are for? Too keep your clubs secure and free of getting bashed in an accident?

I would say offer a vehicle wrap. My uncle owns a shop here in central Ohio (not much help to you) that does them. Actually he might be able to design one for you for a good price. I'd recomend him. If you want his contact info for wrap/vision vinyl designs or materials they can ship to you let me know. I can almost garauntee he'll beat anyones price.

Slap TM logos all over your blog. Call it your TaylorMade Golf the Top 100 Tour or something.

Are you going to take a video camera? You should, I'm sure you'll have experiences that words alone wouldn't express properly.

In the blue Colts bag:

Be sure to check reseeding times. Courses in Nevada/Arizona/New Mexico tend to reseed in the Spring. They'll often close the course for a week or two during the reseeding period.

Good call. I didn't even think about that.

also - with a group like TST around you - maybe you could find people willing to spot you a spare bedroom / couch to crash on while you are playing the top courses. Especially if it means they will have the ability to play a premium country club course in the area.

Also, if you do end up getting a sponsorship from Taylor made / Callaway / etc. See if they will front you balls. That will reduce another expense. Do you have any back ground in journalism? If you do, consider contacting a publisher or a magazine to consider printing articles / a book about the journey. A website for your travels, the people you meet, etc.

In my bag:

some golf clubs

a few golf balls

a bag of tee's some already broken the rest soon to be

a snickers wrapper (if you have seen me play, you would know you are not going anywhere for a while)

and an empty bottle of water

Absolutely! I love the fact that the golf community is almost always willing to come together to help out fellow golf addicts. Unfortunately, I do not have any experience with journalism, but I was trying to figue out how to pitch this idea to either Golf Digest, The Golf Channel, or some other publication/TV company. Any ideas, or people I could talk to would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for the input.

Oh by the way, I did set up a blog at mygolfjourney.wordpress.com. Not much yet, but hopefully people enjoy it.

also read up on using the internet to market what you are trying to do. If you can get enough people to come to your website (talking thousands here) you can show possible sponsers (golf channel, magazines, publishers, etc) that you are serious. Also, consider putting together a short you tube video. Include your swing, your biography, etc. Prepare to attach that video at every opportunity. Get it out there.

There are stories of people using the internet to trade a paperclip for a house. http://oneredpaperclip.blogspot.com/

If you need a journalit I'd be happy to write for you. I'm the best professional amateur writer out there!

Kidding, but seriously, a camera is a great idea. I talked to my uncle about doing a wrap on a vehicle. He said he can design, print, ship, have installed or any combo and he'll beat anyones price. Let me know. His site is www.circlevillesigns.com

Anybody out there have any experience is putting sponsorship proposals together? I know what I want to say, but I have no idea about how to put it together.

    • Day 238: played 18. Back 9 was pretty good after a rough front 9. Then worked a bit after the round at the range, just firming up some feels.
    • Day 6 (15 Mar 25) - Played in local course’s 2man captain’s choice St Patrick’s Day tournament.  Great day of working closely with my teammate on course management process.
    • Certainly BUY used so many near new Drivers in Good condition that will suit ...which IMHO the shaft is the most important part if you want to buy new get a shaft new that suits you then find the head you like the feel off
    • I found being part of a Great Golf Club renewed my love for the game and comps ..previously at my other club I was just a player with novice player mates or solo .and that was hard to progress and drive the passion when my job was very restrictive to playing in good weather and friends couldn't play as much...  that become a grind at times and gave up the game for couple years..but now work for myself and have clear goals and new GC with serious players ongoing comps and great course I can pretty much always get on .. some great Golfing friends I made playing in the weekly comps ..I'm loving it..  Still get down on my game and can walk off gutted ..but thats the game we wouldn't love the good round if we never had bad rounds So for me maybe dropping the pressure of the HC grind and more so enjoy playing comps with others serious on the game ...understand the game is hard ,enjoy the good times and your game will develop ...
    • Big week of Golf nursing golfing elbow ....played local amazing course Arrowtown tuesday ..had a tidy 81 for what I felt wasn't my best Golf in some wet windy conditions found the greens tough to read and gave away many shots... three birdies Played my local GC wed STB mens comp... very rough whole game not happy 89 just felt tired made so many mistakes max 4-holes I played well the rest rubbish to woeful ... Friday played south of my local Alexandra in a 4ball with my mates (we have a comp same partners over the year) played pretty well after not even hitting my 3wood past the ladies tee on the 1st hole ...very slow greens to what I usually played so we made gimmes within 2ft ,,,, couple birdies .. Wasn't going play ..but wife wasn't stressed so joined into the SAT Medal comp ..teed off early .. had some brilliant holes and shots some of my best .. birdied 3x ..78 for the day gave me a 7th in SNR division. putting let me down had a 4x putt on 3rd hole PAR3 ... along with 6+ three putts ... what could have been  Now looking over the above I'm sure many thinking go sort ya putting ya idot .. but couple weeks previously I played three comps .. out of those three I only had one 3x putt my best 24 putts over a round  ... but my driver off the tee was rubbish ..
