Has anyone had any experience with them or options. I am looking to make a change and don't want go to a full GI iron but something between what I have and a GI iron. There is a very nice set that I can get off of ebay for a good price.

Any suggestions would be great too. I like the new Mizuno MX300s but they are not offered in left handed. I heard the AP1s are going to be much improved.

Here is a link.

I picked up set about 6 weeks ago and absolutely love them-while I have a tendency to be fickle or let the honeymoon wear off quickly with new clubs, I don't see these going anywhere. The gradual transition and change in clubhead size and offset from the larger longer irons to the smaller, almost muscleback style short irons works really well. I've hit the AP1s as well, and the 775s look and feel quite a bit less "game improvement", especially from 6-PW. The long irons are easy to hit, even the 20* 3 iron. They're forged, and feel great on impact.

Hope that helps-not just a feel thing either, I took them out and immediately shot my lowest score ever, fwiw.

That is I wanted to hear. I remember loving them when they came out a few years ago but never hit them. I can't pay alot for irons. I need the situation to be a wash and think this might be an opportunity to get something more fitting to my iron play. My irons are less than a year old and very nice, so I expect to get 3 for them. I am in the process of buying a house so my wife will kill me if I spend anything.

I just can't spend that kind of money and I don't see those being much more forgiving than what I own. But they look great for sure.

The 775s are more in line with the AP1 or so, yeah. Maybe like AP1.5s.

Great description-they do seem to slot halfway between the AP1s and AP2s.

I just bought a set on ebay. I got a set of 3-PW,W for 220 shipped in good condition.

I really hope they work for me. I have been frustrated with the game recently and my I have lost confidence in my current set.

I was going to wait till spring and get custom fit but I just bought a house and spending 600 or more on irons seems crazy.

Thanks for the posts.

I have played them this last weekend. What a difference. They are so much more forgiving, hit the ball higher, farther, better. They aren't quite as soft and buttery as the Mizunos, but I really couldn't care less.

Putted like a dog and shot an 83 when it was cold and very very wet.

I am so happy I made the change.

I'm glad you like them-I'd never broken 80 before this year, but I've racked up a 72 and two 74s with the 775s in the bag. Nice combination of a little forgiveness with enough playability to allow me to make aggressive shots. And they feel great, I just plain enjoy hitting 'em.

Thanks. I am glad too. I just feel like I don't have to improve and I can shot around 80 pretty easily. Not saying I don't want too, but I have a job and things I have to do other than play golf.

I am really looking foward to next spring. Golf season is over here.

As you can see, I'm in Western New York, so my season is almost over as well, though I do have a tee time for Sunday. I'm not from here (originally San Diego and a few years in Tucson), so it's hard to accept that golf season doesn't run all year. I'm going to stubbornly keep heading out to the links until they won't let me any more, and then I plan on hitting a place called Froghair for a simulated round once a week, and there are a couple indoor ranges here.

It will have to do, but I'll be itching for mid/late March probably by early January...
