for me it's the unwaivering mental control and stability. You can practice everything else, and if it doesn't work on the course and you start to have a bad mental atitude, you'll have no control on yourself. You need that mental stability and control to be able to preform at your best.

Well, I'm in the minority, I voted, Extreme Distance Control.

If you have that, you must be striking the ball really well, using great course management, as well as not having to worry too much about the short game.

i definitely think short game.

putting is how you score. why do you think that's mainly what they show on tv golf?

at the club i golf at, there is one group of golfers that is WAY better than everyone else. In playing with them, i realized that they weren't better because they hit the ball much farther, or had a straighter shot than anyone else, but because they consistently made putts that were beyond the "gimme" range.

a bad day on the golf course is always better than a good day at work."

For me personally it's definitely the short game.

It's tough for me to go from hammering drivers and long 7 irons to a light little pitch onto the green. Everyone's different though.

Well considering the high % of golf that is played inside of 100 yds. then that's my answer. I would take a perfect short game over anything, any day of the week.
