First I'd like to say, can you please respond to this with no brand loyalty? Im just trying to get an unbiased response.

Onto the good stuff...

I went and got fitted the other day and today I went and demoed some clubs over at golfsmith. I was there for a good hour and half hitting different clubs.....

I have it narrowed down to the Nike CCI forged irons and the MP 57's from Mizuno.

I hit both of these really well, and both felt awesome when struck! Im really excited, I like both of these clubs, but I'm not sure what to get now, Im really torn between the two.

I have my specs now so I will be buying on Ebay used probably. There is only like 100 dollar difference between the cci and the 57's so price isnt "too much" of an issue...

So if you guys had those choices, which would you get, and please no brand loyalty biased responses, I want this as neutral as possible!

Thanks in advance!

Jim

I've been a Titleist guy for a long time but I just pulled the trigger on a set of MP-57's today. Love the feel and forgiveness in these irons. They look really sharp too.

I guess I have to change my forum name.

I've also hit both. The Mizunos felt sweeter and had a sweeter topline. Those are BOTH subjective though. My ability to shape a shot with each was pretty much exactly the same, but I have the shaping ability of an 18 handicap so there's that.

I would say that if you like both equally and price on the front end isn't an issue, have a look at durability and resale. What are the warehouse stores taking for each on a trade in? What do the reviews say about durability?

Well, the fitter was a friend of a friend and is the pro at a Golftec around here. So he doesnt sell clubs, but does work inside a golfsmith....

I will buy from there if I go with the Nike's but I just cant afford the 57's over there, used they are like 5-600 bucks.... If I go with the 57's I'll also have to make adjustments, I'd need to lengthen them .25" and change the lie angles. The good thing about the CCI's they are my specs right out of the box! So I still dont know what to get! Jim

personally i thought the complete opposite i think the nikes have a thinner topline and the feel is better with nikes imo ive never really cared for mizuno though but all in all their about the same.

Thanks a lot Ping! This is such a hard decision! Its nice to be able to have the CCI's right off the rack, but those 57's are oh so pretty too....

And like you I felt the CCI looked a tad better at address, both felt about the same for me as far as being nice and soft.

Man, gonna stew over this one for a while

    • Day 24: did a stack session. Worked a bit on downswing feels during breaks.
    • Day 444 - 2025-12-18 Light day of hotel room work. GEARS Summit v2.0 today. Good day.
    • Day 38 (18 Dec 25) - got out in the backyard with grandson this afternoon.  We got into a little game of pitching the ball from about 25yds to a target point just off the asphalt lane behind the backyard.  Goal - just clear it with a quick hop and stop.  Focused on using the wedge swing motion I was talking with the course pro yesterday….smooth and thru just bruising the grass.  In addition to a concentrated focus on technique, it also called for a quiet mind locked in on target point.  Rehearsed this with both the 50° and 55° wedges.
    • I listened to the Shaun Webb one about the swing coach app. Sounds like a great thing and will (hopefully) be very useful for me. I do think the hosts are underestimating where AI could be in a few years. Right now it's just regurgitating stuff that it has been told or it has scrubbed from somewhere else and a human guiding things will be quite a lot more helpful than just the AI, but it's going to keep developing and it will reach the stage where it's figuring this stuff out on its own. Time will come when it will have you do a TPI style screen and take various height/arm length/leg length etc. measurements, have you tell it some history and your time constraints and goals and what not and it will watch a video of your swing face on and DTL and it will know exactly what you need to work on.
    • I found it entertaining, but the announcing was lousy.  How did the measuring on the final shot start with Rory being closer and being told he won, and then with no explanation it turns out Scottie won?  Weird.
