I think I have finally found a golf forum that has enough post to keep me engaged. I tried others but 5 or 6 post per day wasn't enough to keep my interest.

I have played the game for 30 years and love it. It's a big part of my life, it doesn't define me but I can't see ever quitting. I have played in just about every imaginable event for amateurs and although I don't play a ton of competitive golf anymore I still enjoy the pressure when something comes along. My sister played on tour for 10 years and and I caddied for her in about 30 events. Those years provided me with some priceless memories and some wonderful friendships. I love this game and am glad I found a spot where I can share my mostly useless knowledge while reading others. I never take myself too seriously so I sincerely hope none of you will either. I appreciate a lighthearted approach. Life is too short to quibble about golf. Everybody has an opinion and of course most of them are wrong, mine included. No information works for all. But at the same time think what a boring place we would be living in if we all thought and said the same things.

Good to be here.

My dad is a Purdue Alum, so when ND plays them we don't speak for a few days... better that way, regardless of the outcome.

Welcome.

Notre Dame plays football?

The Notre Dame alums I've met though the years have all been fun and interesting people. I just can't stand two things:

1. "BIG" Notre Dame fans who not only never attended Notre Dame, they've never even been there for a football game.

2. Media coverage. If they stink, it's national news week after week. If they are winning it's big news. It really gets old.

I would dearly love to see UCONN come in and kick Notre Dame next week. As it is, no way you beat Stanford in Palo Alto, which means goodbye Charlie. Perhaps then Notre Dame will take Michigan State off the schedule and replace it with St. Mary's.

Yeah, but this happens to every school that has a big-time athletic program. The subway alumni don't bother me if they stick to the sports. It's when you have people who never attended ND protesting President Obama speaking at graduation that drive me crazy.

This is true, though it's not like we have anything to do with it. The flipside is that there is also the ND backlash from guys like Mark May who won't give the school any credit and looks for reasons to put us down each week.

Unfortunately, I have to agree. Charlie didn't spend enough time recruiting defense. But, maybe he can return to the Patriots as OC.

Three lousy shots and one brilliant shot can still make par...

    • I like Justin Rose and I wouldn’t mind seeing him win another major, I just didn’t want him to win this one 😃
    • I think Rose might have the most zeroed out putting stroke of anyone out there, although as golfing superpowers go that would be one of the most useless.
    • That pre-swing routine tho.. 🤓
    • He's been a top 100 golfer for almost his entire career, yeah. That's not easy to do, especially as you get into your 40s. And, all without any real "superpowers." He's not incredibly great at any one thing. He's very well rounded.
    • Always been a fan of Rose. He seems like a decent human being first of all. When there's some chatter at the tee he says "Quiet guys, please. Thank you" in a friendly tone. He's always given the impression of being a stand-up guy, supportive of his colleagues and competitors. A friendly face. His performance as a golfer is more about consistency through his entire career than the large number of wins. He's always around, but had the potential to win more. This Masters they made a point out of him having almost twice as many lead/co-lead rounds without a win than the next guy on the list. 11 wins on the PGA Tour, 11 on the European Tour and the single major, but a lot of top ten finishes. Erik's comparison to Adam Scott is on point, as the stats demonstrates in the images below. Starting their careers during the reign of Tiger didn't make things easier, but there are few players with more than 15 wins on the PGAT the last ~30 years. I only counted eight from this list. I'd love to see him win at Augusta. Rory is one of very few players I'd pick over Rose.
