New rankings - No surprise: 1. Florida, 2. Alabama, 3. Texas, ... 17. Houston Cougars

Would much prefer an 8 team play-off system. Games could start 1st half of December with a national championship right after the new year. Would give Boise State, Houston, TCU, etc a real shot at championship.

Im not a fan of the BCS ranking system either, but it is what it is. If you have an 8-team playoff based on rankings, you would have a bunch of other teams complaining about it, wanting a 16-team playoff.
IMO, a playoff wouldnt work because the players' bodies couldnt take it. They are still kids afterall.

Yet somehow, Div 1AA (FCS), Div 2, and Div 3 are able to have a playoff, without any issues. Only Div 1A has a bunch of "delicate flowers" that must be protected from the rigors of a playoff.

Please. If "stress on kids bodies" was ever an issue, they would not have allowed Conference Championship games, nor would they have gone to a 12-game season.

Dude, if you're from Houston, you should be arguing for a 16-team playoff, where every Div 1A conference champ gets in (11 teams), plus 5 at-large teams.

With an 8-team playoff, a school like Houston has no chance, even if you win your conference (CUSA, I think?). There will be the 6 BCS conference champions, and 2 at-large selections. Houston will never be an at-large selection with an 8-team playoff scenario. With a 16-team playoff, you win CUSA, you get in. Period.

i hate to tell ya, but they most definatly do not deserve it, i wanna why the f**k they moved up after beating michigan state,a 4-4 team, by only 2 points..BCS has one f'd up ranking system and its all about feeling sorry for people, not putting teams where they should be. just sayin...also alabama should have moved down, and texas move into the two spot, the nearly lost to an unranked tennesse team. but again, bcs comes in feeling sorry for 'em thinking oh, its okay they'll do better next time. no move those hoes down.

go longhorns.

Everyone continues to look at this as if it was similar to professional sports or other college sports like basketball etc. None of these had bowl games, many, many bowl games where people travel and spend money. Of course a playoff would be more accurate way to determine a champion. The exposure and fan appeal of so many games, especially for programs that will never contend for a national championship means that the widespread institutional support for a playoff is extremely unlikely any time soon. Look at golf if only the top 8 ranked players were eligible for Majors all heck would break loose. No system is perfect because the best team does not always win. Villinova in basketball, 1983 Miami football, and many years in baseball. So the reasoning that only a playoff is fair misses the point. Championships are about the glory not actual fact.

But every other sport, in every level of college, which includes every school in the BCS / Bowl system has a play-off...cept D1 football...how can you argue that?

Consistency is the hobgoblin of little minds.

No actually I don't feel that there is any obligation for college football to do anything other than what is best for college football. This is a sport / business not a human right. For what it is worth I would love a +1 game after the bowl games, especially if the BCS power to determine teams is reduced. I know that could be done. If you go to far you get to far into pro football playoffs and that is a loser in much of the country.

    • Greg Norman reveals plan for LIV Golf teams to have their own courses LIV Golf CEO Greg Norman wants teams to follow Premier League clubs in having their own home games. Here you go. Enjoy.
    • Day 2:  I hit a bucket of balls this morning.  Not gonna lie, almost didn’t go since it was my first time going alone and it was a little intimidating.  I mostly hit with my driver (the last bit of balls was with my 7 iron).  The sun was in my face but I think the ones that had good contact with went the furthest yet (maybe 150 yards then a good roll?).  Once I switched to my 7, the first half of my balls were crap.  I’ve always hit my irons before my driver when practicing and done fine - does this make any difference or is it just because I’m so green?
    • It's likely per "category" of clubs, so irons would be one category, wedges would be a category, driver a category, fairway woods/hybrid a category, etc. They aren't going to charge you $50 per iron for a fitting. Almost all iron fittings are done with like a 6 or 7 iron, fitters don't carry full sets of every iron. So yes, if you use a 7 iron for the fitting and let's say you get fit into the P790 with a certain shaft, 1 degree flat and .5" longer than normal you would just order the full set of P790s with that shaft/lie angle/length combination and you'll be perfectly fine.
    • I think the $50 fitting price tag is per club. The clubs I am most interested in getting fitted for are irons. And I'd rather not spend a bunch on getting fitted for multiple irons. Would I be fairly safe to assume that choosing something like a 6 or 7 iron for fitting would likely relate to other lofts in the same configuration/make/model?
    • A Mevo is 500. Comes with little decals to hit balls inside too.
