Is it me or this concept is totally retarded

Some would say the same about hitting a ball with a stick, chasing it down, only to hit it again.

Well, treasure hunting is popular right now (DaVinci Code, etc.). But the "sport" (ahem) was probably created by GPS marketeers as a way to promote sales. Heck, that's what I'd do.
