HI guys,

I have been playing cleveland ta6 for few years and recently got the golf bug to urge me to buy a new set of irons.. I am also relatively short with long arms.. and always feel the need to custom fit but never did it .. but i think now is the time..

so i am considering a set of mx 200 or 300 ... i think my iron shots are relatively solid .. my short game / putting is what's been killing me.. i think i still want to go with mx 200 for the forgiveness ... but felt like 300 is what could take me to the next level?

any one with experience choosing both?

Also.. would it be crazy to go with .. say mx 200 on the longer irons.. and mx 300 on the scoring irons???? does it make sense??

also.. how does the mx 200 / 300 compare to the adams a4 / a7 in terms of performance and forgiveness?

thanks for any comments

A mixed set is OK as long as they're one brand, I guess. Just make sure the lofts are matching, you don't want to have big gaps in between the clubs.

I see no reason not. I've yet to try the MX-300's but am really looking forward to it. The shop guys talked about mixing MX-300 long irons with MP-58 short irons.

Not sure how the new Mizuno's comapre. They haven't received demo sets where I live yet.

As Golfaway mentioned, you want to make sure you don't have any large gaps in your lofts.

    • We had a member of our senior club who developed a mental block on pulling the trigger. I played with him to see what the membership was talking about. I timed him a few times when he would get over the ball. 45 seconds. He knew he had a mental block and would chide himself, “Just hit it!” Once on the green he was okay and chipping was a bit better. It was painful to watch him struggle. Our “bandaid” was to put him in the last tournament  tee time with two understanding players. We should have suggested to him to take a break from our tournaments. I agree with the idea that when a player realizes they have a problem, the answer is to go fix it and not return until they are able to play at an acceptable pace.
