Flies, Gnats and Ants

I don't know what it is about my golf ball, but I'd say about 70% of the time I'm shoeing one the the three off my ball. Its almost to the point that I've adapted for it to my pre-shout routine. I guess they are just fans wanting a closer look?

At the practice facility I most often frequent (And to a lesser degree, any course in the area) it's pretty much a guarantee that I'll have fire ants on my ball when I find it. I eyeball how many there are to get an idea how long I can jack around standing over the ball.

Fire ants. Great for speeding up the pace of play.

I remember being in the buisness, and the only time I would play is late in the day. The mowers have been gone for 12+ hours so ants have time to set up shop. Gnats, flies and mesquitos all seem to get worse late in the day.

around here, lady bugs seem to be everywhere. I was playing earlier today and they were on my bag, my clubs and the cart. Guess they like this relatively warm weather we've been having lately, a nice cold spell should get rid of a lot of them, along with the ants.

You can put a dab of diesel fuel on your ball and they won't come near it. We use to use this trick when I worked in Forestry. Put a dab on each temple and no more gnats. Of course you stunk but that's beside the point.
