Went out for a quick 9 this afternoon and found myself behind a trio of those of the elderly persuasion as I came up to the 6th tee. The hole is only 373 yards and pretty tight so I usually lay up to the 150 yard marker with a 4 hybrid. A couple of the ladies in the group ahead were about 130 out from the green and I considered going ahead and hitting seeing as I was aiming to end up 20 yards behind them, however, I thought better and waited.

As per the point of this post, my tee shot ended up taking off like a rocket somehow (sure surprised me) and ended up landing pretty much bang on where one of the ladies had been hitting her shot from. It ended up a full 30 yards longer than I usually hit it on that hole.

I know there are a lot of problems with slow play and nobody enjoys waiting around doing nothing on the golf course but sometimes it's just better to wait a little while rather than put others in danger.

I'd only just caught up at that point, I'm not even sure if they had noticed I was waiting, plus I was just practicing and messing around so I didn't mind playing behind them.

It's true, though. My drives always go around 240 yards, however I tried swinging harder and doing more with my right hand and whadya know? 270+, at the least. There were people in front of us around 250 forward, and I let the other people hit first. What a relief :D

Someday it's going to be required by law to wear a helmet on the golf course...

OK maybe not, but that would make for some interesting hat/helmet designs. LOL

Good man!

It's always better to wait. You will always wait on the next shot, anyway.
