How come LPGA players don't hit the ball as far as their PGA counterparts?

I think it is quite obvious why women can´t hit as far as men...

The not so obvious question would be, why don´t they putt as well as men? This one isn´t so simple to answer...

Please don´t swing while I´m talking !!

You don't think the same could be said for why they cannot hit a golf ball as far?

No doubt...it isn't always well recieved but that doesn't make it less true.

Somewhere between PETTERSON and GUSTAPHSON wound't be a bad place to be!

Funny.

I followed Gustaphson around for a while at Torrey recently and she hits the ball hard, very hard. She cut the corner on a par 4 that you could only consider doing if you have great confidence in your length and accuracy. I don't even t h i n k about doing that on that hole. I recommend that readers go to a LPGA event sometime, you'll get an education in how some women can play golf. But yes, most men hit the ball somewhat farther than most women do. Partly I think due to the TYPE of muscle (fast-twitch vs red, i.e. mitochondrial content - that type of thing). Women tend to have more endurance per pound of muscle, men more speed of contraction ("explosivity"). Caveat: I'm not a physiologist, and I've never stayed at the Lodge at Torrey Pines .....

    • You're right. I haven't really had an issue with this before, but it's definitely worth closing the legs a bit to see what happens. I've had 2 of these and never had this problem before. About 5 years of use between the 2. It's really odd. Yeah, I've always had a bit of inconsistency and misreads, but this is a new level. I did a baseline session last night, and all my of stack speeds had decreased by roughly 5-10 mph (with me throwing out the obvious garbage readings). Weirdly, the driver speed actually seemed to be right where I expected it. I guess maybe it's having trouble with the smaller head of the stack vs. a driver? Whatever it is, I think it's time for me to go with the stack radar.
    • @DeadManI used to use the Swing Speed radar and, in hindsight, it seems very unreliable.  As @iacassaid, it's prone to misplacement, and I'd sometimes get wildly different speeds from swing-to-swing: like a 103mph, followed by 118mph, then a 102mph, then a 114mph.  I didn't know any better at the time and thought that was normal.  I've since upgraded radars and the new speeds seem much more accurate/consistent. Also, Mike Carroll (FFG) used to have the SSR and he now calls it a 'random number generator'.
    • I have it. Works good. As all things electronics, there are analog elements that can 'weaken' like the microwave signal emitting/receiving or the contact between it and conversion module, etc. Might be time for a new one.     P.S. I've had it for a few years. Other than replacing the battery haven't had any periods of wild reads.
