Golf fitting in Mecca

I read thread after thread where the mantra is get fitted. I do not live in a golf Mecca, I have never seen a Golfsmiths; Doral is not down the street. Dick's is the only place that claims fitting by a Pro ($50), but I just don't believe it after seeing the room at my local Dick's. We have two Dicks and one's equipment was broken and the other looked like a storage room. So if the only place I can get fitted is using a 5 year old grey box with duct tape on it and they tell me some of the software isn't "right" then what can I really do? How does anyone get fitted and have faith that the results are correct and the employee isn't just trying to move merchandise?

PS Ping came through a couple of weeks ago at TGW and I felt I should not get fitted by them because I was not i the market for clubs, was that dumb?

So you do not have any golf courses or driving ranges with PGA Professionals working there? They may not have all of the greatest technology, but from my experience, most PGA Pros can fit you pretty accurately without all of the technology.

That is very strange, that address would be in the clubhouse of a private course in a housing development. I will call them.

The number is no longer in service.

Kurt at Golf headquarters on west 21st at Tyler 729-2627 is who has helped me but as I said the equipment seems questionable. He is a standup guy though.
