Hi All......

mishits are more likely if you don't use a tee, but indeed you don't HAVE to use them. You shouldn't use Laura Davis method thugh - it pisses off the green keepers (she kicks in the grass to form a little bulge and places the ball on it )

Your chance of a mis-hit is definitely greater. I have been playing for 25 years now and I was told that when you have the opportunity to use a tee-- use it whether you are using a PW or a long iron. Good Luck

Hi, I do it all the time. I think it helps by not using a tee, at least for me.

I agree, I remember watching Playing Lessons From the Pros with Nick Price and he said he never uses a tee when hitting into the wind to keep the shot nice and low.

I've since tried it and have felt my shots stay lower, it may be because I'm more conscious of the wind now, but it's helped me.

I'm just trying to figure out who Laura Davis is...?

I tee the ball up quite low. When I tee it up higher, I tend to hit my shots a club shorter (and higher). So sometimes I'll just put my ball on the front edge of a divot, without a tee. That's how you hit irons most of the time anyway - off the ground.

Thanks guys. I actually played today and done it because the wind was just unbelievable, and it seemed whatever way I turned it was in my face!
