i just bought two vokey wedges and was practicing my short game with them. i hit a few 20 yards pitch shots and was impressed by how much spin i got. my shots would land, bounce once and spin back a few inches. on the negative side, i was practicing with 3 new pro v1x and they're all scuffed now. have you guys noticed this as well?

ya i have a 56 spin milled and when i use my pro v's it will scuff them up from time to time, im actually looking in to more durable balls right now to solve that problem.

I solved that problem by just ditching the SM and getting a 200 series. Im much more happy, now.

Pro V1s have a really soft cover, so scuffing is normal. If the scuffing really bothers you, Id suggest either going with a ball with a slightly harder cover, going with a less spinny wedge or hitting lots of sand shots to wear your grooves a bit.
All of the above will reduce the amount of spin you get, but if you want lots of spin, scuffed golf balls is something you will have to learn to live with.

Was never impressed by vokeys. Many cheaper competitors use the same exact metal, and shape as vokey, minus the pretty color filled stamping (not to mention many pros regrind their wedges anyway). I'm able to get the same spin using a smooth faced wedge as long as the grooves are clean. And yes all wedges scuffed the ball the same. After Extensive research on metals used, shape measurements, and around the green testing, most big name wedges performed quite well, like putters I think its personal preference..

Old thread ought to be put to bed since about 3 generations of Vokeys have transpired since the last real post.

Yeah this has been known, I'm on the fence bout Vokey's I would want them, but no for awhile I love my current wedges too much.
