Anybody out there not carrying FW woods anymore? For a lot of reasons... I'm thinking about just carrying another hybrid in my bag. If anybody has forgone FW woods... any suggestions on a strong hybrids? I don't think many companies make hybrids with 15 degrees or less of loft... and... they are hard to find. Thanks.

I carried 3 FWs for a long time(3,5,7) and now that I have learned to use my hybrids, the FWs are in the closet. I can use my hybrids for many things that the FWs fell short of; all rough, dirt, sand, etc. On thursday, I used the 19* for an entire hole except for putting(I think it could be used for that as well). The hole is a very narrow 530y par 5. I used it off the tee, for my second, and to chip from 15 yards to within 5 feet. That was the first time I have birdied that hole in a long time. I am not a long hitter, but I swear with this hybrid; I can actually outdrive some of my playing partners. My favorite thing about it though, I can hit it straight, fade, or draw easily. I could never do this with my fairway woods. I am considering getting a 16* to put in the bag, but right now th 19* is just fine.

We had some lively threads on this at the end of summer.

Here's two I could find:

It depends a lot on what distance you get out of fairway woods vs. hybrids, and how well you hit FW woods.

Several people said they had gone to hybrids only. Then, there were people like me. We hit our fairway woods (3, 5) well, but have never been able to get much out of hybrids and don't carry them. Like eveything else in golf, it depends on what works!
