Ok, my second post, I have a problem with a yardage gap. Here are my yardage now:

3w-240-250
3h-210-220
4i-190-200
5i-180-190
6i-170-180
7i-160-170
8i-150-160
9i-140-150
pw-125-135
51-110-120
56-75-90

I have a cpl holes and im not sure how to fill them... I am more comfortable taking a full swing, if that makes a difference. Do I grab another wedge or a 5w/2h?

Opinions?

i am in a pretty similar situation you are in. i also hit it about the same distance. I decided that i am going with a 60 for Xmas. I dont really need a 5 wood at all.

I cant hit a 60... Dont know why and it probably all mental. I was also thinking about dumping my 3w (i rarely use it) and going to a 17* 4 wood instead and grabbing another wedge in between my 51 and 56. I can make most of the shots i need with the 56.

To help improve your overall game it helps to hit partial shots with all your clubs to fill in the distance gaps.

This will also help you develop a knock down shot and to play in winding conditions with a low shot.

I also use to played with full shot into every green but now find it easier to hit partial shot will more club into green with better distance control.

I heard of someone playing 18 holes with either even irons one day and odd irons the next outing.

try experimenting and don't be afraid to try new things, remembering in the long run it will add many new shots in your bag.

I even hit partial drivers into long into the wind par 3's with a partial backswing and choked up driver or 3 wood with great results.

4 wood wouldnt be a terrible idea. going with a wedge in between 51-56 seems like a tight squeeze. you could bend your clubs and get it something like 50/53/56-57 if you have the funds. If you dont want to do that but still really want a club between the gap and pitch, you could go for a 54 as that should give a more balanced yardge gap

Another variable in this is my current sets pw is 46* and the 2 sets ive narrowed down to replace them has a pw loft of 47* that shld help. How much does it cost to have wedges bent?

47 would be perfect
47/51/54/56 or 57 sounds like a good set for your yardages
bending and customizing your clubs can cost anywhere from nothings (which is extremely rare) up to around $100-130

I have same gap between 3 wood which I have trouble hitting off the fairway and 3h hybrid. What are the advantages / disadvantages between 5 wood and 2 hybrid.

2 Hybrid may be a more versatile club but i would take the 5 wood and use the 3 hhybrid off the fairway when neccessary. 5 wood would be more distance while 2 might be more control off of the tee. I cant see the 2 hybrid being to helpful from the fairwy either

I dumped my 3 & 5 woods this season for a 4 wood with great results. You are not going to hit the 4 wood as far as a 3, but most of the time my long approach shots fall into the 4 wood range. I have not settled on my 14th. club by loosing the extra wood, but I'm thinking about having less gap in my wedges as well. After all, that is where it is at, a hundred yards and in.

Would you reccomend a lob wedge?

Did a wedge fitting thing on Clevelands website. Their fitting system had some serious gaps in it too. They were heavy in the 110-125 yard area with only about 8 yards between a 46/50/54. They told me I should use a 58 with high bounce which they called at about 60y. I have a freind who carries 3 wedges + pw and his short game is not remarkable to me. Hes a 8-9 capper as well.

Keb, I had a 2h but just sold it on ebay. It was another one of those clubs a barely used. If the 3 wood was too long ( which was rare ) then I would use that ( which was rarer ). 2 off the most useless clubs Ive had. Although I just played some courses in AZ where I had to use # wood instead of driver but that is a once a year trip

    • It may not have been block practice, though, is one of the main points here. You may have been serving and from the same place, but you were likely trying to do slightly different things. It seems that would only be blocked practice if you were trying to hit the same exact ball hit to you to the same exact place in the far court. I'm not sure that's as random as if the ball that you're given to hit is at different places, too, but again…
    • I played tennis in college. I thought block practice was great for serves because you were starting the point and  you could easily adjust where you wanted to place the ball based off the same motion. I equate those to tee balls. I despised block practice for groundstrokes once you reached a certain level and your fundamentals were good. To me, hitting a 100 crosscourt backhands in a row was silly because I would never do that in a match. I needed to randomize it by hitting some deep, some angled, all with different speeds and spins. I share that same thought about iron play. Because we seldom hit the same approach shots hole after hole, I prefer to practice irons randomly.
