I have just recently started keeping stats, I think its something that is going to help a great deal. ...

In business systems quality control, one basic tool is called

Pareto Analysis , named after economist David Pareto from the 1800s industrial revolution era. In Pareto Analysis, you look at sources of error in your system. You make adjustment A by removing/remedying the biggest source of error. Then, you make adjustment B by removing/remedying your next biggest source of error. Then adjustment C... and on and on. With a 6-ish handicap, is there one area of your game that's really holding you back? Go after that first. Also, you need to have a well balanced game to go where you want to go. When I caddied years ago, there were a dozen promising assistant pros in the St. Louis area who had some criticval flaw in their game they never could purge. By age 30, many of them switched to other professions. Funny thing about golf, you don't always fix one problem forever. A faint bad swing memory from 2005 can resurge in 2010 as a major problem again. Some people have drivers which misbehave one week out of the month. So, work with your pro to help you process the statistics, to look for patterns that hurt you. And, remember to have fun! Good luck!

Focus, connect and follow through!
