I have an oppurtunity to purchase a great set of g5's but here are some things that I'm worried about.

Pros:
1. for the price of $280, the used set is in great condition and will be adjusted for my swing and lie.
2. It's a graphite shaft so the weight will be alot lighter
3. it's a regular flex

cons
1. after going through the ping website online custom fitting, it said I needed a black dot with a stiff shaft. This used set is a blue dot with a regular flex/graphite shaft
2. will the adjusting of the clubs damage anything
does the price sound good escially when he is throwing in the free adjusting of the irons. Meaning, he will adjust them according to my swing.
3. Also, will the graphite regular flex shaft affect my swing?

Thanks guys and all opinions are welcomed.

Brand new and fitted to you is under $400.

You need the correct fit and flex. Go get fitted and see.

You will be miserable with regular graphite if you should be gaming stiff steel.

Blue dot is just .75* upright IIRC, so the adjustment would be small.

But, I don't see any reason to jump at this offer when the shafts don't fit your swing. You can get new G5 irons for $399, or find a used set for around $300, with the correct shaft flex.

Are the G5 really not that much of a difference from the G10? I am hitting i10's and I'm realizing that I should have gone the G10 route rather than the i10 route. I'm kinda looking around as well for either the G5 or G10 as well.

There was another thread recently on this topic, and it seemed the consensus was: No the G5 irons are not much different than G10.

I hit the G15, G10, and G5 irons, and actually hit the G5 the best of the bunch. I think the G5 may have a different shaft, but I'm not sure. Are you finding you want more forgiveness than the i10 offer? Just curious.

Yes, at this time I am unable to get out and practice/play as much as I would like. Don't get me wrong, the i10's are nice clubs but you gotta be pretty consistent to really enjoy playing these. And at this time, I get really busy and I don't have the time to run and practice or etc as I would like to really effectively benefit from the i10's. So yes, I was just kind of looking around for an opportunity for more forgiveness. Just lookin into options.

Totally understand. The i10 are great irons, but if you're not practicing/playing much, the G series might be a better option.

BTW, what shaft and lie are your i10?

Its a standard black dot stiff shaft.
