Syringe with grip solvent. Not the easiest or safest way, but really the best way to save a grip. You can also try putting a plastic tube over the grip and apply air to the butt of the grip. This will lossen the grip from the tape and you should be able to slide it off. Be careful of this way though because if too much air is applied its easy to pop the grip or get a bubble in it, thus making it no long good

I've tried this numerous times. It almost never comes off like you'd want it to. For the price of a grip, it's 10000x easier just to cut it off and put a new one on. Unless that grip has some sort of sentimental value to it...?

oh i couldn't agree more. It is really not worth the time to save them unless you need/want it for what ever reason. Working on golf clubs over the years I have taken thousands of grips off for various reasons. I would much rather cut them off, but sometimes the grip is in perfect shape and no use wasting a good grip!

I've been using an air gun for almost a year now. It works really well. You can buy one online for about $50 or you can make one for about $5. It's really easy. You need a compressor though. My only issue has been with older clubs where the grip has really frozen to the shaft. I've been meaning to put a video together on how this is done.

I have tried this, but with no success. However, I have seen it work very effectively. My Scotty Cameron had a leather grip that I was not fond of, but I had a real issue distroying a $75 grip, so I took it to a local golf craftsman. In 6 seconds he had the grip off in one piece, no damage, and didn't even charge me!

Yeah, wanna make 14 dollars the hard way?

There's definitely a trick to it and some grips that were installed traditionally, you can't get off. Especially if the butt end of the club is covered tight with tape. This keeps the air from getting to the grip and separating it. What I've found is that once a grip is installed with the air gun, it can be easily removed.

How do you rejuvenate an old grip while leaving it on the club? Essential oils?

Yeah, a little too easily. If you don't install the grip with solvent and tape the grip will come off mid-swing. Trust me...

Actually, I don't use any grip tape on any of my clubs. No solvent or anything. I've never had an issue with grips moving. In fact the club repair guy at my local shop does the same thing. He has small hands and doesn't want the tape. You have to be careful that you don't inflate the grips with air though. They will slide then.
