I play Cleveland wedges. CG10's to be exact

54* with 1 dot (low bounce 8*) because I like using it around greens on tight lies.

56* with 2 dots (mid bounce I think 10*) for general use and various lies.

58* with 3 dots (high bounce) for sand, and rough, and I also hit flop shots out of the rough with it.

This is the setup I have played for a long time, and it seems to be all in all a good battle plan for most any situation, but I want to buy some new wedges and stick with the Cleveland brand, but I can never find any that have the current setup I have now.

I always see 58* and 60* lob wedges with low bounce 1 dot or maybe 2. and 54* with high bounce 2 or 3 dots. its exactly backwards from what i am use to. makes me feel like my wedge setup is wrong. I know everyone is different and I should get the setup that feels correct to me, but I was just curious if anybody else runs across this problem?

or maybe i need to change my loft/bounce up a little?

I know this topic has been beaten with a stick probably.

People usually do have the reverse bounces on their wedges compared to what you have.

What you can do is buy a stronger lofted wedge like a 52 in as low of a bounce as possible and then bend the loft to a 54... this will lower the bounce as well... get it?

Not sure what the loft is on the MP 32 PW in your set. Do you possibly use the PW as more of a 10-iron (full shots) than a wedge?

As for your CG10 trio, it looks like you have a distinct purpose for each club. I'm curious as to why you have only 2° difference between each. Do you have a set distance range for each wedge, or do you mainly rely on touch for each shot?

Many players have moderate bounce on their GW (generally 50-52 °) and high bounce on their SW (54-56°) for use mainly as a bunker club. As for LW, the bounce thing is wild - I run into an even mix high, medium and low bouncers for LW. (Still haven't decided to add a LW to my bag, although I have a good looking promo model in the closet.)

On bounce: There's measured bounce and effective bounce. For details on bounce and wedges....

Thanx for the input guys. I do use my pitching wedge for full swing shots, I rarely use it to chip with. as fas as my cg10's are I have a specific yardage I like to hit the 58* and the 56*. The 54* I use as my feel club and I hit various shot with it from around the green to 110 yards.

I do like to hit my 58* from bunkers and I should probably start using my 56* instead.

I get what you mean Verse, and its a good idea, but if you bend a 52* to a 54* I think the bounce will go up...correct?

Correct.

The point I think Verse is making is that this may be more applicable to the lob wedge setup. You should be able to get/bend a high bounce lob wedge, even though they don't really make a ton of them. Hypothetically buy a 54- 1 dot 56- 2 dot 56- 2 dot, bent to a 56/~3 dot. Obviously there is more math and science to this, but I think you get the point. Simply put, it should open up your selection. Also consider doing the reverse. I'd be interested to see this done with a 54 2 dot, bent down to 54, and up to 58. This would achieve your desired setup, and also yield identical clubs/swingweights etc. etc. Simply food for thought.

I may go this route, thanks for the input.

    • Yes, agree that there should be more TV coverage. I think the fact that they don't have the swing speed of their male counterparts makes it (slightly) more relatable, in that the rough is more of a penalty and the lack of distance means they are often pulling longer irons or lumber to get home on par fives. I think this season has been a bit tough on the LPGA to build much of a narrative with no one winning more than one tournament. And you could argue that they didn't really make hay with Nelly's run of wins, which should have been crowding out Caitlin Clark for female sports story of last year. One piece that they need to fix is the slow play - I would argue there is less player power compare to PGAT, so I don't understand why they aren't hitting the repeat offenders with stroke penalties. They have taken some strides in that respect this season, so let's hope Kessler continues the momentum.
    • Day 70 (10 Jul 25) - Weekly 9 hole round - changed up the clubs as I used the MaCGregor blades and Penna persimmons.  These clubs require focused contact - so it was a day of working on tempo and making consistent contact.  Overall it was a good session of working on these areas.
